I was wondering if anyone knows any large chain stores that sell "Papaver somniferum" poppy seeds... I went to homedepot and all they had was california poppy. So does anyone know any stores that would have that?

On another note does anyone know where I can get san pedro seeds without using the internet to buy them.

That is because Opium poppies are illegal to grow in the US and have been for the last 70+ years.

    'cuz the seeds are legal...
oftentimes the spice-rack seeds are P. somniferum, & usually viable (tho' they may not be "high alkaloid" varieties, they will have morphine & codeine in the seedpod sap = latex)...
visit www.poppies.org for O-type topics... heh...

a lot of the major chains carry them too, but your particular stores may not stock them. i'm fairly positive you can get them from the home depot here...i AM positive you can get them at meijer here...

In the UK you can get p.somniferum seeds in garden centres, hardware stores, grocery stores, supermarkets...Anywhere really. They are not illegal to grow here, fortunately for me! They are also very inexpensive, around 90p-£1.50 for a couple of hundred. ($1.50-£2.00) There are also so many different varieties of colour and shape of petal, that if they were illegal it would hard for the untrained eye to spot them. The police are so stupid here most of the time, they probably wouldn't connect poppies to opium anyway!
Good luck with getting your hands on some seeds. I wish I could help you. Share good fortune and all that!

are you serious? im going to be in london in July and I can just go buy Papaver Somniferum seeds at a garden center? would garden shops in the city(not the stock market place, the urban part of london) have them? will they actually say papaver somniferum on the packet?

and san pedro seeds are pointless if you want to trip anytime soon. you need a fairly good sized length of cactus to trip.

Yeah, garden centres all over the UK stock them. The larger the garden centre the more varieties likely to be on offer. There will be a seeds section, just look for the poppies. The packets will state what type they are on the back, usually. I guess you all ready know to avoid oriental and californian poppies? Get the ones that say papaver somniferum only. Look out for the "DO NOT EAT PLANT! ALL PARTS ARE POISONOUS!" warning on them. Ha fucking Ha. Like anyone will take heed,eh. You will be amazed at the variety of shape and colour. Ive got these ones in my garden at the mo that are greenish in colour, and are shaped like huge round puff balls! Anyway good luck and have fun!

sounds good. i shouldn't have any problems getting them on the plane i shouldn't think.

that's really funny about the poison thing especially because no other poisonous plants have that warning. even plants that are much more poisonous than opium.

You wont have any problems getting them on the plane on the British end. But im not sure how they will react in the US. Maybe if you buy a selection of other seeds, i.e. pansies or stocks, you could open the packets, pour out the seeds and put the poppy seeds in instead. Just pretend you are a keen gardener!

Or if you know anyone here, maybe they could mail them to you?

ask for 'peaony mixed' - these r the commonest ornamental 'garden' poppies - they look less obvious & still produce great pods - most packets don't want to put P.somniferum on but some will say 'poisonous' or what ever - the peaony poppies are somniferum but are also sometimes called P. peaoniflorum

they dont have it at home depot or lowes--only calif poppy--but they have it at a mom and pop garden shop---the seds arent illegal even the plants arent ilegal but if you cut them or processes then your busted--i take that back sometimes cops pull up the good poppies but no one ever gets busted for em---gotta look around the chaims only have the Cali poppy--or you can go to ebay--preminum poppies plus and buy 40-50 [poppies and they are full of viable seeds--and there legal to sell cas they are supposed to be used fpr floral arangements--and they grow practiaclly any where and they grow from year to year dont have to plant every year they propagate by themselves:cool:

i'd say buy the dried pods on ebay. that way you can make tea from the pods and straw, and plant the seeds that are inside. and trust me, there are a ton of seeds. also, this way you KNOW the seeds are good, cause you make the tea from the pods, and if you get high then the pods are the right type.

also, poppy pod tea is the shit if you have no access to opiates. it is a mellow, comfortable high, and the process is easy enough to make a cup of tea for breakfast, my favorite. it also helps for us pill junkies because it all but eliminates the wd's
