knit/crochet projects for little boys?

    I recently knit a poncho for a 10 yr old girl I know. Now, her 8 yr old brother is feeling a little left out because I didn't make him anything.

    I have no experiance with little boys, I don't know what is "cool", or would go over with them.

    Anyone out there have any ideas of what to make an 8 yr old boy? Nothing too hard, as I am not really one for following patterns.

    The first thing that I can think of would be a hat. LOL, maybe a nice little dread tam......
    I'm trying to think of things that I've made my brother....he loved the scarf that I crocheted, but it's a bit warm for a scarf now.;)
