I'm sure there must be a thread somewhere about this... but I can't find it. So, yeah, the drugs bill was given Royal Assent on Thursday, and as of today it's illegal to sell mushrooms in any form in the UK! This is heartbreaking... I'd only just got into tripping, and now all the stalls in Camden Town (London's mecca of funk) are going to disappear. Do any UK people know what availability will be like from now on? I imagine fresh mushies will be a thing of the past now.
Do your research and you will be able to get them the old fashioned way. i.e. picking liberty cap mushrooms, wild in the UK, around late summer/autumn.
This has been one of the plans I've been contemplating... my north Walian girlfriend who lives in Oswestry, Shropshire has been telling me of how her friends pick them in the wild. Do you have any useful links to hand, dirk? I hear it's very difficult to pick the dangerous types if you know how to identify them properly. Any information would be greatly appreciated. edit: Just discovered the mushroom forum in your profile - seems like there's some useful discussion there.
hey resonance, try getting a boat from hollyhead to dublin, then get a taxi to temple bar and look for a record shop called purple moon, it has a purple front wall... this is where the head shop- cannabiz used to be.. they are NOW next door AND SELL FRESH SHROOMS FOR A EURO A GRAM they also do mexican grow kits... check it out, they MIGHT even take sterling considering the guys running the place are English. My advise to you would be to buy a load of grow kits and set yourself up with a years supply making the trip to Dublin every 6 to 12 months! good luck and happy tripping!
i found out about the new terms and conditions on sunday while ordering my new pipe online (i lost my old one) at a head shop. i couldnt believe it! i hadnt even tried mushies yet so i splashed and i put in an order for a mushroom growing kit with the next day delivery postage! i got it this morning, no hassel ,along with my pipe and my skins just in the nick of time!!! jammy huh? its soaking in the bath while we speak! so yeah, your free to come up to scotland if you really want! lol
this is really poor, its a shame that they could have taken a step forward but instead chose to take a step back. i'm not all that upset though. i've been eating fresh mushrooms for about a year now, and every trip i had i learned a little somthing more until about a month ago i was tripping and the lesson the mushrooms had spent a year teaching me finally clicked into place in a massive explosion of knowledge. i'm happy i got the chance to eat mushrooms legally and i'm glad i was able to take on the lessons they wanted to teach me
ooo! i just reasd this on everyonedoesit.com, which i think is the biggest online headshop on the net - definately one of the biggest 'Following the shock announcement on Friday 8th April, that the UK Drugs Bill had circumvented the usual scrutiny and attained 'Royal Assent', we have received word that the UK Home Office may be postponing clause 21, which reclassifies magic mushroom products as class A drugs; pending the inclusion of exemption for wild mushrooms. Does this mean that our beloved mushroom products are still available for sale? For now, yes. We'll keep you updated' there is light at the end of the tunnel!
I believe that all psilocybian fungus is included under clause 21 of the new bill, so I'm pretty sure that truffle trading is out of the picture too. Thanks for the heads-up, JimiWhizZ - do you get deals for buying 100g's worth of fresh mushrooms over there? €1/gram is pretty pricey by London standards. Having looked into mushroom hunting, I'm looking forward to giving it a shot later this year. My friends and I shall be making many day trips to nearby pastureland, I feel!
The government are so stupid and sensationalist. There is absolutely nothing wrong about mushrooms. All this will do is encourage kids to go and pick paddies. When mushroom poisoning increases they may see the monster they have created. Though they probably won't care because they don't care for the drug taking sector of society.
