If I put 100mg of chemical into 100ml of distilled water, each ml would be equal to 1mg of chemical, if i then put say 15 ml in petri dish and let dry in sun once it dried would i be left with 15mg of chemical or will some be lost in the evaporation or the distilled water being used as a solvent?

That depends on the specific weight of the compound solved in the water. Very light substances may get lost (or at least some of them). But if you were speaking of RCs (or sth. like that) it should work quite well, because they are quite huge molecules. Don´t forget to stir well, before separating the complete solution into smaller doses!

Thanx for the reply, it is a RC, would alcohol be better than distilled water for the evaporation?

Only if the alcohol doesn´t destroy the molecular substance of your substance.
