Hi ppl im new to this site but im glad i found it,it seems that the ppl here have the same views that i do .The reason im here is to actually rant about america and the ppl just dont understand that the american dream is almost dead cause the goverment is letting the ppl starve whille the fatcats look down on us like slaves.I keep hearing ppl say help the homeless and all that i can think of is that get a job but you cant even make a living cause the US is letting our jobs go across seas to communist countries.I could talk about this for hours and there is a thousand bad things i could say about the US and almost nothing good So i guess what im realy tryen to say is that ppl had better wake up cause you could be the next one in the cardboard box.

First, welcome to the forums :)

Second, America is not the only country doing those things. In fact, many countries have it far worse from their own "fatcats".

Third, the American Dream is about to come to an abrupt end anyways, with oil prices rising higher and higher with the coming Peak Oil crisis. You think $58 a barrel of crude is bad? Wait till it hits $100. The suburban dream of two car garages, spread out cities, globalization and overseas production, big box retailers (think Walmart) and cheap petroleum based (i.e. plastic) products will be gone. Unfortunately, this seems likely to happen in the next 10-20 years, if that. And also unfortunately, much of our agriculture is done using oil (tractors and other equipment, petroleum based fertilizers and pesticides which cannot be made without oil). This could mean large, global food shortages.

We may all soon be living in cardboard boxes (metaphorically speaking), but the problem is we may not have an affluent society on which to depend for handouts... Things are going to be pretty rough in the coming years. Watch out for resource wars too (like Iraq is...and Iran will be, possibly even this year (June) if the rumors are correct). Keep an eye on China.

I'm doing a paper about how the new American Dream is my own persoanl fear and loathing. I hate the American Dream. It represents everything that is evil and will ruin our society.

The American Dream is a myth. The idea that if you work hard, you will succeed, does not exactly explain why people are still living in slums. A lot of these people work their asses off to make 5 dollars an hour to feed their families. Most of the time, people who are born in poverty stay in poverty.

We've all heard stories about people who were born with nothing and then worked their asses off and eventually become multimillionares. You know why hear these stories? Because they're so rare. If it were common, no one would care. The fact is, that for every person who lived the American Dream, there are millions of others who are dirt poor and working minimum wage to stay alive.

the American Dream is to be successful. No matter how you get there. And it's what our society today defines as successful that really gets to me.

I beleive that instead of dying the American Dream needs to have a new birth. We need to care for our neighbors. Suspicion must be replaced with love and negative attitudes with positive ones only then can the people of the U.S.A learn to make the world a better place.
    Peace

Death of a Salesman by Arthur Miller is a good read/watch if you're interested in the death of the American Dream.

Some say all the oil has been used up so were fighting for it right now. Regardless, the future will need a new source of energy or, reduce its use of energy
