Not sure where to put this...

What happens if the IRS is going to audit you, but you don't have any reciepts or old pay stubs and so forth? Because I'm terribly unorganized, and never keep reciepts.

Fuck if I know. They'll probably just throw you into the dungeon under the DIA to rot away. Haha, just kidding, but then again...

You're in for some headaches if you can't prove every cent of your income and where it went. That's why audits are such a pain in the ass.

Don't worry, they won't arrest you for anything unless you intentionally defrauded them. They will make you pay the difference though.

Your employer should have an account of all your pay. If they don't, well they are going out of business as soon as an audit comes. But as far as receipts go, i wouldn't worry about to much. Anything that you can't account for label as like food or some other nessicity.

Unless you are claiming all kinds of deductions, you don't have to worry about receipts. If you fill out somehting like a 1040EZ there is nothing to audit you over really except your income really...

And if you did claim all sorts of deductions, you'd have to get those numbers from somewhere...hopefully receipts of some sort...
