Sweetie, it is time to see the doctor. I predict a prescription for Zithromax in your near future!

druminmama, what PhotoGra said. They don't really "counteract" each other. THey do, however, work pretty well in unison. BUT if you are dealing with bacteria, and you don't heal in a matter of a few days or a week, some prescription meds may be needed.

If Dayquil works for you, go for it! (It doesn't have any antihistamine in it, so it is less sedating for most people.) Sudafed makes me a bit crazy, (I get tired and hyper and irritable at the same time) but it works well, on the rare occasion that I do get a sinus infection.

I took Zithromax once and it made me puke quite badly...

I constantly have sinus issues...I inherited my father's awful, awful sinuses. Anyway whenever I get a sinus infection, I drink a lot of water, use Sudafed (extra-strength, the pink box) and GO OUTSIDE. Going outside is almost 100% sure to make your nose run, which is totally what you need when your sinuses and ears are plugged and sore. Now if instead of pluggy you're runny...well then I have no idea lol cos my sinuses are virtually always pluggy instead of runny with infection.

Cher. Try NO dairy for a while. I used to almost live on Sudafed. Taking dairy outta my diet almost completely cleared up my allergies and sinuses. Now I get sinus problems once a year or so instead of all the time.

Midget, what do they base the diagnosis on? Usually infection have a fever, but the color of the snot (nice, huh) doesn't always have to do with whether you have a bacterial infection or not.

I have had docs do XRays to diagnose serious sinus infections. Of course you don't want those done often. Does your doctor give you anything, or any advice to help with the congestion?

The base the diagnoses on lack of fever and clear snot (when there is snot...) They gave me some Flonase...(RX nasal spray...) At least the pain isn't *as* bad now...it's just annoying instead of super painful like it is when it *really* flare up...but it's like I need something to dry up whatever's up there currently.

Bump...okay...not really any better...well, pain hasn't really been *too* bad in today and yesterday, but nasty looking yellow snot started up this weekend. So I'm going to the doc tomorrow. Bah.

if there is anyone in this world to advise people on how to clear up a stuffy nose, it's me.

i have tried about every over the counter product there is for sinus problems, and i've fallen in love with tylenol. "tylenol sinus severe congestion coolburst" is the shit. it works within a 1/2 hour everytime for me. i also suggest vicks nasal spray but it has to be the "fine mist" or else it doesn't work for me. hot showers are okay, but a better natural remedy is to boil a pot of water and breathe the steam for a couple minutes.

hope my advice helps you :) i feel your pain

Last time I took Tyenol Allergy/Sinus...then I layed down on the couch...I fell asleep for a few hours and felt good when I woke up, but wow, I don't think there's any way I could take that stuff and function...it seemed to put me to sleep pretty quick. But it worked. lol

Went to my doc today...he said I should wait only 10-14 days if I have issues, not 3 weeks. :p He perscribed me a Z-Pak for 5 days and 1 refill if needed, but my insurance wouldn't go for that. So instead it's Amoxicilling 3X a day, for 10 days, then 1 refill if needed. That was what he first thought of, actually, but then he was like the look on your face tells me you don't wanna be taking something 3X a day...lol, oh welll...worth a try.
