i got my first tattoo the day i turned 18. i've got three now, my most recent one i got about a year ago on the top of my foot. i was not exactly thinking health the day i went in to get it done and now i'm kinda scared. i didn't go to my normal tattoo artist b/c their shop doesn't tattoo feet because they are so susceptible to infection. as if the excruciating pain of having a tattoo on my foot and the horrible infection and swelling that occured for a week after wasn't enough, now i'm worried that the ink used isn't too safe.

i paid a couple more bucks to get UV reactive tattoo ink. the whole tattoo isn't done with it, just highlighted with black light reactive yellows, blues, and greens. the guy told me it was FDA approved and totally safe, but i've been told by other artists that it's in it's experimental stage and that it hasn't been approved. are there any tattoo artists/experts out there who know anything about UV reactive ink? everytime i see my foot with the black lights on i can only think that cancer is now unavoidable for me. if anyone knows anything about it please let me know. I have always looked for UV-reactive bodypaint. (just regular with paintbrush, no tatoos) and in my whole salers catalogue, they sell a type of pigment to make body and tatoo paints, and the set also includes some UV-reactive pigments. Next to it, it says, to never use the UV reactive ones direct on skin, only on clothes!!! so according to this catalogue, not even the non-permanent bodydecoration seems to be safe.

Maybe you should try to get rid of this tatoo. Even though I believe that most of the hazardoes substances are already in your body. but I bet there are some cures to get things like that out.

I have scene shows about the UV tattoo... They havent been deamed safe but neither has the tattoo ink in your body... Normall tattoo ink is NOT FDA Approved and may contain heavy metals... So i wouldnt worry to much...

just for good measure... I have 7 tattoos
