Yeah I know what you guys are saying. It is very VERy thought proviking. I had to stop it a few times and rewind to get the whole picture. It was really dark and everyhitng but it all had a great meaning and stuff. I am not a big fan of dark stuff either but it was still excellent.
You folks should check out the live cd.. it has a lot of pictures form the stage show.. I heard they were supposed to release a dvd of the live stage show, but I haven't checked lately
Didn't Roger Waters perform The Wall at The Berlin Wall just after the collapse? I've ehard that's a good show.
My point is that they are Pink Floyd movies. I dont care what genre the Pink Floyd movie is they are still, plain and simple, movies that have Pink Floyd in them. Here's my list of the best Pink Floyd Movies. 1. Live in pompei (Trippy visuals, and if you have you 5.1 set up, it is like Pink Floyd playing in your living room and some great scene of the group chatting and discussing their music.) 2. Dark Side of the Moon (Not a performance or rock-opera but a documentary of the making of Dark Side of the Moon) 3. The Wall (Pink Floyd's answer to Tommy, a mind fuck for sure.)
IMHO The Wall is really overrated. Maybe it's just because I'm not that keen on the album, but to each their own-- please don't take this as some personal attack if this is your favorite album/movie. All sorts of folks gush about how great it is, especially if you're on drugs, but after seeing it a half-dozen times or so in various states of consciousness I'm still just not that into it. If I'm going to watch Pink Floyd, I'd rather pop in the marvelous At Pompeii video...
Some of The Wall seems drawn form George Orwell's 1984. Animals seems drawn from Orwells's Animal Farm. I think Roger was in his Orwell phase in the late 70's Gee I wish they would tour and perform it live. My brother saw the wall built in Nassau Collusium in 1980. he's got a program. Sooo jealous.
