Can anyone suggest any feel-good movies that don't suck? Nothing sappy or cheezy. In fact, the darker the better. Stuff you like to watch when you're down in the dumps.

    Examples:

    1. Casablanca
    2. The Good, the Bad & the Ugly
    3. Rollerball (the original)
    4. The Summer of Kikujiro
    5. Amelie (ok that one's a little syrupy but good)

I Heart Huckabees. Pretty cynical beginning with a feelgood end.

'Rollerball' is a feel-good movie????........ oh well - each to their own!.

    Here's a few that are "feel-good":

    1)The Absent-Minded Professor.1961.
    2)Son Of Flubber.1963.
    3)Austin Powers:International Man Of Mystery.1997.
    4)I Wonder Who's Kissing Her Now?.1947.
    5)Dr.Strangelove.1962.

I admit it gets a little gloomy at times ...like when his best friend gets his brains punched out. Um, yeah. But the overall message makes me feel like I can conquer the world. Unlike Dr. Strangelove! Gah! :D

Well,I see your point but I think that Dr.Strangelove is a feel-good film simply because it is a black comedy focusing on the end of the world with the chilling re-assurance from Dr.Stranglove that he can produce new human beings in the nuclear bunkers after the fall-out.The whole film is hysterical.Especially the line when Dr.Strangelove accidentially addresses The American President as:
    "Mein Fuehrer!........er.......sorry.....er.....Mr.President!".:D

Pleasantville is pretty feel good, and it explores all sorts of issues, such as racism and being in a 'perfect' society.

Magic Roundabout - Oh the trippyness of it all, though if you didn't experience the original series as a kid, most of it'll probably be lost on you.

Deadman on Campus - Okay, it's another kids in college movie, but a HILARIOUS one. You pass all your classes if your roomate comits suicide. So, two flunking roomies try to find the perfect sucidal candidate to take their extra room. It's alot more funny than it sounds. "You can't sing showtunes and be depressed!!!"

..All the other feel-goods I love are Romcoms...I'm a sucker for romcoms.

Dumb films make me feel good like romy and michelles high school reunion - SO DUMB!!! But hey, it never fails to cheer me up.. Also Amelie, Singles, Bridget Jones Diary (1), Kill Bills 1 &2, any lord of the rings, spirited away, chocolat, Buffalo 66, the fabulous baker boys, true romance..

Ok, not all dumb, but theres quite a bit syrupy in there... sorry, Im a sucker for romance

    * School of Rock. Jack Black never fails to crack me up! It is a little bit corny at times, but not too much!
    * Anything with Ben Stiller & Owen Wilson!
    * Northern Exposure - It's not a movie, but watching old episodes of this classic TV show, always makes me feel warm & fuzzy!
