Buddhism is one of the few true paths out there.
If its right for you it could lead to enlightment.

I like Buddhismus. I practiced it quite diligently for a while but not for years. I approached it too dogmaticly I think.. I need something like that though. There is so many different buddhist sects. Some very good, some bad. Must be careful before becoming a student without criticism. Some zenmaster said: If you see buddha, kill him! If the concept gets too dominating, it becomes an obstacle. But buddhism is very beautiful. So beautiful that it may easily blind foolish people like me, although it should be about keeping eyes open. I think it's good to try things, many things and so find what's good for oneself. Wisdom is in each of us and all around us. It doesn't take any certain forms, it's nothing that could be named in its entirety. It's something living. It changes every moment as the world changes. We may realize some wisdom. But when we just say it or put it in a book it already becomes dead. And in the long run dead wisdom starts tasting like dead. We need living wisdom, life...
Our culture is in crisis, I mean everything is turning upside down. People of our time create a new culture, consciously or unconsciously. What happens all around the world is that people lose more and more the touch to their roots. There is no authentic culture. People become passive and don't create and be part of a living culture, but are passive and just receive something outside: tv, movies, music, literature, food, jobs, ideas, ideologies... It gets to a point where people will have to create everything again, quite from the beginning. We are at a point where many traditions are fainting or fainted and people wake to a reality where they have to ask who they are, they don't have the answers ready and that's why they ask the questions. I think that today's people are probably very diffrent in that we are very individualist and very importantly there is a general sense that everyone is entitled to think freely as they do. That's why the old religions must mean something different today at least for most people. Well what do I know...
The point I have I guess is that it is time now to be creative, because we live a time of crisis in many ways. So many problems in the world and everything is somehow unfinished. There is no ready maps across this time. We are who hold the future in our hands.

    damn, well put!
i like what you said about "if you see buddha - kill him!" and how grabbing onto concepts can be troublesome. you have to try not to try (it´s tricky...)
sometimes i feel like i go through periods where i really GET IT and really wake up to the reality of things, but other times i´ll totally lose a message that ive already gotten and i kinda forget about it for a while. it´s like a roller coaster of understanding.
