    Only when they're not respectful.

like the other gals said, only when they disrespectful. When they spam, divert the thread completely, or say things like "I'd like to fuck you" or something similar. It bothers me when girls do it too though, not just guys.

I think it's great that guys pop around here and see what's going on. It's great :) It's the only way we'll learn to understand eachother. BUT like I said before, respect is needed. I think it's awful when men come around here and start woman-bashing and trying to cause trouble. Why come here if you're not going to be respectful??

    ignorance gets on my nerves.
    hatred gets on my nerves.
    sexism gets on my nerves.
close-minded assumptions get on my nerves.
refusing to see a point objectively gets on my nerves.
passing judgment before having the information to do so get on my nerves.

... but those are all actions, not people.
it's the message, not the (gender, race, class, religion, etc. of the) author.
the content of some posts made by men has gotten on my nerves, and the content of some posts made by women have gotten on my nerves.

if the message is without ill intent, then both men and women should post more often.

personally, i interact with men more than i do other women, yet i post in this forum more than any other. if there were a mens forum, you'd definitely see me there. :)

I'll admit I've been lurking in this forum and occasionally posting for a couple of years now (I read most of the topics pretty regularly, except for the ones clearly marked "gross monthly girl stuff" or something to that effect).

I really wish there were a Gender Issues forum on this site, but this is the closest thing to it and has been for a while. Moreover, I wish there were a Men's Issues forum because I think it would do a lot of men good to have a place to talk about their own trials and tribulations (especially considering the propensity of HipForums members to be young-ish or at least interested in learning about and questioning the world around them). However, I do NOT think that it is right that the development of a men's forum would apparently necessitate a cash contribution to the site. I believe no other population (GLBT folk, an ethnic minority group for example) would be asked the same, so why should men? Why should men have to pay when the Women's Issues forum is not only prominently featured but available for free?

Regardless, I believe MORE men ought to post here because I think men's contrary opinions are sometimes the only thing keeping this forum from becoming an all-out male-bashing font of misandry (ok, that might be a slight exaggeration). For example, a few weeks ago I posted in a topic where one of the women talked about how men were so easily screwing up their daughters' minds by perpetuating a sexist culture, etc., but she then went on to say how she doesn't hesitate to hit a man who says something that offends her. See, this sort of thing really gets to me. "Casual" violence against men has not only become accepted but encouraged and normalized by sitcoms and commercials and women who think they have an exclusive right to keep men in check with a slap, but anyobdy believing in gender equality ought to believe in the abolition of ALL representations of violence against women AND men by each other and from within. And when I posted that very statement in the aforementioned other topic, it basically went ignored. So what does that say about women's regard for men when a cogent argument is essentially dismissed as trolling?

Don't get me wrong, I love women. I certainly celebrate and support as best I can the women in my life. But I've long had a problem with the "Women and Children first" mentality that seems to permeate our society. I realize that large populations of needy women AND men AND children get cast by the wayside in a me-first order, but it doesn't seem like as many people are shedding tears or speaking up for the men. And that makes all men feel as though they are worth less.

Ok, I could ramble for a while, but I suspect this post too might simply be dismissed as trolling. But I've always appreciated the opportunity to exercise free speech on this free speech site. So frankly I don't care if it gets on your nerves. Because if you don't want men posting here, well, what does that really say about the value you place on them?

    Cheers,
    Hanzo Sword
