Gloria (the 1980 one) was on television yesterday, and it was sorta surreal to suddenly see the Twin Towers standing tall and proud in the background of a couple of shots. I tried to remember other flicks where the Twin Towers might have appeared, but wasn't able to really come up with much. So does anybody else have a good example or two? I know there must be a few. And what about some actual interior shots of the buildings? That would be an awesome sight to see. Maybe in some of the big "Action" flicks from the 1980s? Peace, PD
There's a film with Robert Redford in from 1972 called, "The Hot Rock" ... It was shot on location in New York and there are aerial shots of an unfinished World Trade Centre, it's pretty strange seeing it half-built in 1972, knowing that now it's no more..
In the beginning sequence of the Tenth Kingdom, it shows the city of New York being transformed into this fairytale kingdom. And The Twin Towers actually fall down, one right before the other. It was quite prophetic...well, as prophetic as NBC is capable of...
That poster is so cool! And I've never seen the movie. So I'm really looking forward to it now. Thanks for telling me about it. Peace, PD
Armageddon has a scene where smaller bits ahead of the main asteroid are smashing into New York, and one of the pieces actually smashes into the side of one of the WTC towers.
i wanna say there in half-baked but im not positive, but good idea to the creater of this thread cuz thats something i've always noticed since 9/11.
I remember when Independence Day was supposed to be shown Saturday Sept 15. The network ended up scrapping it because no one wanted to see a movie showing New York getting blown to smithereens by aliens right after 9/11. It would have been highly inappropriate. The only ones who would have enjoyed it would have been terrorists and people who thought that attacks were funny or "not that bad". I can't watch Deep Impact anymore because of the giant tidal wave. Knowing that so many people were killed by a wave smaller then that movie one...tis very sad indeed.
The opening show for the TV series "The Lone Gunmen" (a spinoff of the X-Files) Had a robot piloted airliner on course to crash into the World Trade Center. In the show the plane was diverted at the last minute. It aired about a year before the attacks. It would be really eerie to watch that again.
At the start of 25th hour they show the Twin Towers. But during the movie it is post 9/11, i actually believe the writer changed the script to go along with the post 9/11 world. Edward Norton bathroom scene ranks up there as one of my favs all time, i love how he just goes off.
Just discovered another one! Sidewalks of New York. I actually sorta liked this movie, and am wondering why the critics and public didn't care for it much? Anybody else ever see it? The Twin Towers are seen in the background at least twice (that I know of). Peace, PD
