I don't smoke anymore mainly because I have to take drug tests at my job,but another reason I eased off smoking was because I had a problem of often thinking about negative or embarresing experiences from my past whenerver I smoked weed. While high, I would often think of things I did or said that I shouldn't have and the weed seemed to intensify my feelings of embarresment and feelings of anxiety. Now if I think of these same things while not high they aren't much of a problem for me. Does anyone else have this problem with marijuana intensifying negative thinking about yourself?
not myself, but many people do i DO say really embarassing stuff when stoned on the phone especially, i hate phones, but i dont dwell on thigns, i find them funny actually. ill mix together embarassment with humour. i smoke weed and get HIGH not lowe
calm your minds... http://www.buddhanet.net/e-learning/buddhism/index.htm http://www.snowlionpub.com/pages/dlquote.php http://hipforums.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=87 The use of marijuana increases your thought process. You start to think about many things at once, instead of focusing on one thing your mind can race all over the place. Once you learn to calm your mind through meditation you will notice that all those pesky insecurities will leave you. And youll get a kick out of meditating while high too! Note* These are my opinions, I could be wrong about all of this. You decide what works for you.
i can definiteley relate to your experience in my own individual way, what happens 4 me when i'm high is i am insecure so i will have thoughts about how i'm not as good as other people etc...everything becomes heightened, negative self images etc.. i cant handle being stoned around other people because i become caught up in measuring myself and other negative thought patterns, i find my problems in daily life will be heightened while stoned.i prefer 2 get high by myself and do something creative with the high like write or draw, i think what the likes of people like me and you need to do is examine our "problems" not high and see what is causing them...
when you are stoned this is teh best examination! just think about what you feel and do those things that you should be doing better. It is your natural urge to strive better. others have a natural urge to sit around and do nothing. others have an ugre to do things. what good would looking at your situations sober do? obviosuly you dont notice whats wrong when your sober, otherwisew you wouldnt have to be stoned to see the problems. just my oppinion
This is a very common problem. Loads of my mates have the same experiences too. It's not unusual to feel like this. The older you get the less you worry about all this stuff, believe me. But I do know some people who have given up smoking because of this, ie, they just can't enjoy it anymore. Personally, I think it has loads to do with how you feel within yourself in the first place. Smoking does not cause negativity, but thinking it, makes it so.
Now that you mentioned this about doing things while high,I have noticed that I can handle being high better when I'am doing something physical like cleaning up around the house or washing my car. I guess I have more problems with the negative thinking when I get high and just sit around.
Could this be related to the type of marijuana you smoke? I'am not sure exactly what type I smoked, but I onced read that different types of marijuana can give you different types of highs.
I dont understand depression. Is it some type of "chemical imbalance" or is it that you just feel sorry for yourself? If you feel sorry for yourself ... how hard is it to change? I dont talk to many people either, my parents are always fighting, yesterday was the 3rd time they said they were getting a divorce, I work a crappy fast food job to support myself, I have never had a girlfriend and I dropped out and smoke pot. But I can still laugh and be happy. In the end all you have is yourself, your life is too short to always be sad/angry/depressed.
Yeah, you do think alot when you smoke marijuana. Maybe part of the problem is that it causes some people to "think too much" and over-analyze too many things, then you get confused and this confusion leads to feelings of anxiety?
Here's some interesting info on anxiety and panic attacks sometimes associated with marijuana smoking. http://www.marijuana.com/420/showthread.php?t=36999 " You can avoid future panic attacks by following a couple of guidelines. One, stick to smoking with close friends in a place that you are familiar and comfortable with. Turn the lights down a little bit, put some music on at a low level, maybe light a couple candles or some incense. When you do smoke, stick to what you know. You do not need to smoke out of a gravity bong or a five-gram blunt. You do not need to hold your hits in for as long as you can either. Also, next time you smoke just take one hit and nothing more. Wait for fifteen minutes and if you are not high, take another one. Eating a solid meal at least thirty minutes before smoking can also help. Moreover, if you are really new to smoking, stay away from other substances while you are smoking, such as alcohol. This will only increase your chances of you experiencing a panic attack. Meditation can drastically reduce your chances of having a panic attack, try doing it a couple times a week."
I've never heard of it producing such a negative effect, but that's just one more reason why the body is so amazing. Everyone is different.
