I took some Kung Fu lessons when I was young, to get physical therapy for a wreck that I was in. I earned up to a blue belt, and would like to start studying this again. My only problem is, the man who trained me before is no longer teaching it. I have checked around town, but all the martial arts studios here are mainly for karate. What would be the best way to find an instructor(outside of an ashram lol)?

It obviously depends on where you live. If it's a big city, the internet would be a good source. If it's smaller, word of the mouth would be the best way.

Where are you at, my school has a few locations around the country that I could reccomend you to. It's Lao Hu Pai, most of the schools are in texas but there is one in kansas and I think one in New York but I'm not certin of it.

There is one in Celbern (Sorry about the spelling, I can't spell). There was one in Pearland and I think its still there. I think there are a few more. Let me check with my sensei and get back to you with an updated location list and the exact names of the dojos.

There is one in Houston, College Station, Cleburne, and Mcallen. The schools may not be in the yellow pages but they will be under the name Lao Hu Pai or possibly Honorable Tiger Society. Other than that I'm not sure how much more help I can be. If you have any other questions like addresses I'm sure I can find those out for you.

Keep in mind, when you find a candidate for intructor, that you will reflect many of his qualities, and be fairly limited to them while you're under his instruction. For example, if he has a closed heart or a inflexible nature, I suggest you keep searching.
