nasturtiums!! yum! I gobble these flowers down with my salad happily every summer. They're edible of course. Taste slightly like a peppercorn. It's most satisfying seeing the suprise on someone's face (someone who doesn't know you can eat them in moderation) when you pick one in the countryside and eat it. Here's some pics: What the leaves look like(not edible*)<--*correction; they are edible! A pic of some of the flowers A close-up flower pic Does anyone know any other species of flower you can eat?? ~
Years ago I bought a birthday cake decorated with edible flowers. Then I didn't know what half of them were. Boy it was purdy though. Done with purple and pink flowers.
here is a list of edible flowers! http://whatscookingamerica.net/EdibleFlowers/EdibleFlowersMain.htm has anyone ever tried candied violets?
Great List. Added it to my favorites. I've been a flower-eater since I was a boy, but there is lots on this list that I didn't know. As far as nastutiums go -- leaves AND flowers delicious additions to a salad. Makes people ask, "What IS this flavor in here? I've never tasted this before." Beleive me, the leaves ARE edible.
i went to a french cafe (well, it serves french food and the employees are from france.. but its in america) and the dessert i had came with a rose petal. and i went "oh what a cute idea on how to decorate!" and then i was explained i was supposed to eat it and it was GOOD! but i think its only certain roses.. i'm not sure
