Thrift shop clothing is great for fabric like silk and velvet. If you do patchwork you can get a velvet dress for 3.00 and cut if up for patches. It doesn't matter if there is a stane or something on the dress 'cause you can simply cut it out and ues the rest :D Cool, huh?

Thrifts shops are a great place to start, then you can check out specialty fabric shops like http:/www.stonemountainfabric.com/ in berkeley or Dharmatrading.com online.

localy where I live there is a vintage fabric shop called "make me". I think other towns would have similar shops. you can get phat fabrics all the way back to the 60's in mint condition. just an idea.

Yard sales are also good places to find fabric 'cause sometimes people will get rid of all of their craft stuff 'cause they don't have time to do it anymore. I once got a trash bag full of fabric and ribbons for 5 bucks at a yard sale because the lady having it got a full time job and had to cut back on her craft work.

It just goes to show that if you look long and hard enough you can find anything :D
