It wasn't really one person. Its just basically that you have to do this one single part in everything like the family, society, church, sports, and all that jive to get something going. To make something reliable because all the players in the game are going to feel the urge to commit.

Its a survival thing in all human establishments. Maybe its a total natural instinct?

No, you deserve to live. You might starve to death or something though so I don't recommend you do that.

i think "living" in this case is having enough money and what not to support yourself, but i could be wrong.

I beleive in the statement "earn a living"

If you don't work, unless you're still a kid, what do you deserve? You don't deserve to die, but you don't deserve anything that everyone else has to work hard for to support your lazy ass.

I hate people who don't work, or even teens who refuse to get a part time job because it takes up too much time. You need to work to to truly deserve to play hard. Anyone who lives off other people is just a parasite in my opinion. There are very few excuses people can give me that I would condone having someone else support them.

You're forgetting people who are intentionally homeless, who scrounge for their own food, for whom work and play are one and the same. Do not fall into the trap of thinking that being a good, deserving person means having a job! Having a job just makes you a slave.

I honestly think that the majority of you that don't hold having ajob in high regard are just little hippie posers who think beign lazy is the "way" and a job is "working for the man"

Let me tell you. Life is hard and you need to work to survive. You teens can go about life with that mindset until mommy and daddy quit paying for everything and then lets hear what you have to say about a job.

I love how a job is awful and paying thousands upon thousands of dollars to go to college for nothing is ok. That's just as bad. Going to college because that's what SOCIETY tells you to do. You're such hypocrites it makes me sick.

Having a job sets me free. I don't have any worries about money or where my next meal is coming from.

    I agree totally with that!.

I work & have always worked because I can't get by without £££££s.

I am not one of these "Live on free air & berries from the forests" type persons.

I like buying the trinkets of capitalism.

I like good food & wine & the best of anything that money can buy!!.

I don't revel in money. I hate it. I don't like the way it controls people; but I do work to support myself and my habits. No one else pays for that. I work to live comfortably and that is not an evil thing. Not knowing how is a lot worse in my opinion.

Earning a living is just that, it's finding a way to get the things you want and need in life. No matter what way you do it, by getting a "regular" job, by foraging off the land, by becoming a contributing member of a commune, whatever, you don't get anything for nothing, nor should you. It's the sacrifice you make to get something that gives that thing any value.

Oh, and btw, I love the pig, heady :)

Hey coo ldown. Not everyone will agree with your opinions. I dont mean to say that you shouldnt work and put your time in. I say that its a shame people go to the same old job every day for the rest of their life. I mean it seems to me that people werent ment to WORK their lives away because they wont survive. Of course it is good to work it makes you feel good but to work all the time sounds sad. People need more time just to live. To sit up on a grassy hill and stare at clouds and hum for hours if thats what they choose.

I'm sorry if I sound heated but about once a month I hear someone from hte ages 15-18 bitching about how much jobs suck and how they don't want to live that way. Or how it's too hard and it's oppressing.

A job is only oppressing if you make it that way. Sometimes you have to do things you don't want to do to survive.

Yes, people need time to live, but you can't slip too far into that side either. Too much of anything is bad. Too much work is bad, and too much laziness is just as bad. What people need is to do what they can to get what they need. Be grateful that you have what you need, and enjoy life.

I disagree with people working hard to get material things. Things they don't need. Wants are what makes us more greedy and dependant on society. Live simply, work for what you need, and love what you have. Tha;ts all I'm trying to say.

Amen Sista! I agree with you. I know someone who hasn't held a steady job in a while and usually just couch surfs until they aren't allowed to stay at that place anymore (sorry, but us regular working folk that pay rent usually don't like it when someone sponges off us for too long). This person says they try to get a job but when something gets lined up for them, they make a dozen excuses why that job won't work out for them. Now I like to smell the flowers, lay on the grass looking at the clouds and humming as much as the next person but I believe you have to "earn a living" by respecting the balance in life. Even animals (maybe with the exception of pets ;) ) contribute something to the way of life. Humans definitely should too, whether it be at a job, commune, etc. I have much more respect when I see a homeless person with a sign that says "will work for food or money". I'll see if I can pay them to mow my lawn or something than someone who sits in a park all day and begs for money because they don't want to work. Get out your guitar and put a tip jar in front, and I'll toss in a couple bucks. Do something...it doesn't have to be something you hate, or that buys into greed. I worked at restaurants and coffee shops and other random jobs since I was 15, knowing that this was not going to be my job for life. Decided I wanted to become a massage therapist, put myself through school with the money I had from working and now I "earn a living" by doing something I love....and I still have plenty of time to stop and smell the flowers. Sorry for the ranting and raving but I have very strong opinions on this matter (obviously ;) ).
