Tales from Topographic Oceans by Yes has four songs on it that are about 20 minutes a piece.

The Velvet Underground's "Sister Ray" is 17:27 or so, but there is a live version that tops 35 minutes.

Eh, there are a bunch of 'epic' songs out there. Most bands seem to have at least one.

I love epic songs sometimes. Most of the time it's classical music or heavy or power metal songs.

    Some of my favourites:
    Dominé - The eternal champion
    Drakkar - Until the end
Grave Digger - Rebellion (the clans are marching)
    Rhapsody - Emerald sword
    Therion - To mega therion

Also the album Stronghold by Summoning is full of epic black metal (altough so melodic it's not really black metal anymore) and one of my favourite albums in this genre.

Achilles Last Stand - Led Zeppelin :H

What a monster of a song!

    There's also:
    No Quarter
    Kashmir
    Dazed & Confused

Of course, when those songs were played live, they became 'epic' on a grandiose scale..

Great album, just like Jerusalem. But I wouldn't call it really epic.

    Great song/album!

Robert Rich's Somnium is 7 hours long, and only available in DVD format. Maybe not "epic" in the grand sense of the word, but still...

    Woohoo! :)

When linking the word "epic" with music, I think of a certain feel to the music, an ambiance of timelessness. I prefer my music to be epic in this sense, and luckily there's some quite great long songs that sound like this.

    My favourites:

Iced Earth - Dante's inferno (Rather dark heavy metal; ca 17 min)
My Dying Bride - Crown of sympathy (Doom metal; ca 12 min)
My Dying Bride - The cry of mankind (Doom metal; ca 12 min)
Mourning Beloveth - Dust (Doom/death metal; ca 14 min)
Shape of Despair - Still-motion (Funeral doom metal; ca 16 min)
Manowar - Achilles, agony and extasy in eight parts (Pretentious yet enjoyable heavy metal, ca 28 min)

There's more, I'll edit when more come to mind.
