    2. Taming of the shrew
    3. Argosy
    4. Life DOES have a purpose
    5. Childhood's end
    6. Paradise lost
    7. Selected T.S elliot poems
    8. Point of departure
    9. a light in the forest
    10. Quite early one morning
    11. The time machine
    12. treasure island
    13. to the lighthouse
Has anyone read these? there were a few more but they were short story books. I know to the lighthouse will be good...
alot of them are considered good books by my english teacher so I think I'll enjoy them, hopefully. Which should I read first? the time machine sounds good....

I haven't read a lot of those books but I stole a copy of "The Old Man and The Sea" from my english class back in the day. The Time Machine wasn't that bad but I have heard that Paradise Lost is an excellent book. I would go with that first and then you should mail it to me...lol...just kidding. Have a good read.

Childhood's End is good. Phil Lesh wrote a tune for the Dead based on the book and it's theme.

TS Eliot is great, no doubt it's got his biggie in there, also you can never go wrong with Hemingway or Shakespeare. So it's a quality selection. Lots of big hitters.

    1. Old man and the sea is great, specially in the hot weather. I've heard a lot of people knock the philosophy/morals of the book as trite but I found them very telling of the human condition.

    2. Taming of the shrew is amusing, but for me its more about the whole of the absurdity opposed to the indivdual bits.

    5. Childhoods End, as with most of Clarkes work its great science fiction with more meaning behind it then a lot of non fiction.

    6. Paradise lost, on my increasingly long list of books to read.

    7. T.S Elliot Poems, I myself don't sit down and read a whole book of poetry, instead I will simply read the occasional piece. That being said I think Elliots poetry is much more readilly understandable then most.

    10. Quite early one morning, I have not read this specific compilation but I have enjoyed some of Dylan Thomas' poetry. It's been a long while though so I do not have much of a comment.

    11. The Time Machine, read this as a youngin and remember thoroughly enjoying it.

    12. Treasure Island is classic good writing and fun reading.

    13. To the Lighthouse, yet another book on my to read list.

I have heard of Point of Departure but have not read.

I have not heard of argosy, life does have a purpose (what is it?), or a light in the forest.

All in all I'd say you nabbed an excellent haul!
