I find it funny that we are talking about how the old pope died. Especially since most of the forumers I've read posts of have a very high level of tolerance. Now we have a pope who is, well, not the most tolerant of them all to be nice. So yeah, what do you guys think about the Pope and what it means for Catholicism, Christanity, and the world in general now?
If it's possible for the catholic church to be even less tolerant of our changing world, it'll happen with Ratzinger.
Okay. Amanda, here it goes...I'm not responsible for the madness that ensues after I post this...and I will not post anything else in this thread after this unless provoked beyond all reason... 1. Pope John Paul II made a prediction a while back, pretty far back, I was just a young'n, that the pope to follow him would be the Anti-Christ. 2. The Mayan Calendar predicts that the world (or at least the age of man) will end on 23 December 2012. 3. The Bible says that there will be a 7 year period of peace that will be abandoned halfway through...but after that 7 years, Armageddon happens.... 4. It's 2005. In 7 years, it will be 2012... Have a nice day everyone...
Holy Crap! Ahhhhh! World's gonna end an everyone's gonna die! 12 years?! That's not enuf to do anything! AhhhhhhhhHhHhH!
Thanks Holly, and I'll take the blunt of keeping people off you. Hear that, send anything you'd want to say nasty to her to me. Moving on... we have the idea of the end of the world. We have a Pope who well, let's just say is somewhat creepy. Really, very intolerant. We have wars going on that you can feel from the base are religious. All signs aren't looking to happy. But hey, things'll be good right? And it's 7 years FJM
The man has only been Pope for about a day and a half. I think we ought to give him a little time to grow into the role before we speculate (not to mention come to any definitive conclusions) about what end of the good/evil spectrum his papacy will serve. A little more reality-orientation is always a good thing.
See though the thing is, people can see what he's thought about as he was a priest, a bishop, whatever else he was. So you can make relatively good ideas as to what he will do from what his beliefs are.
apparently, not for sure, but from what i hear, i think this pope used to be in hitler's youth? i dont know for sure, so dont take my word for it, even i dont know for sure
He was in the Hitler Youth from the age of 14, but it had been compulsary for years. At least one source says he was a non-enthusiastic member. He also deserted the German army in the closing weeks of the war.
I believe he's in for changing some things in the catholic church! He said:" You cannot get salvation unless you accept the blood of Jesus, It's the only thing that can bring you to heaven" He's a little bit envengelical! Yay! The catholics are ALL gonna get saved!
i dont know why everyone thinks the catholics arent getting saved... its the oldest church pretty much, and it retains much of the Jewish roots...but again, i dont like the idols and graven images
Actually, if you read the news, many people are upset with the new pope because he is a conservative. They are looking for a liberal leader who will usher in change. The Antichrist is a political figure. What you are looking for is the False Prophet, who will be the spiritual advisor to the Antichrist. The seven years do not begin until the Antichrist signs the covenant that gives Israel land rights (from Palestinian leadership) and the building of the third Jewish temple begins. Why must this take place? Because according to the prophecy of Daniel, the Antichrist will stand on the temple mount, (The holiest of holies where NO ONE is allowed. In fact, there is a sign that prohibits one from entering) This is how many will be decieved.
hm? I never mentioned catholics aren't saved. That's why I said ALL CATHOLICS! Half of the stuff they do has pagan influences though.
well i was speaking generally... i was also just wondering like why lots of people dont generally respect the cathoic sect
This new papa is bad news for the world. Reform is needed in the church, and he's not going to be the man to deliver it. And really, it's all-too-predictable - it was never going to be the case that a curia appointed by the conservative JP II would elect anyone with any progressive ideas. So catholics will have to remain in the midddle ages, with a centralist and ultra-coservative at he helm of what is fast becoming one of the world's last autocracies. Have to hand it to them on one level though - the announcement and so on was pure theatre!
You: Catholics are getting saved You: Catholics worship mary Bible: Polytheists will not get saved Hmm... ^^
That's the point! The new pope seems to not worship Mary, but respects her. he even said "that salvations only through Jesus Christ" , not Mary, not rituals, JESUS. Of coarse YOU disagree!
