Hello........Anyone practice thai chi? I've been doing a bit of reading up on it and I am definately interested. I am not into doing the whole "buy the thai chi video thing"....but I might have to because I can't find any classes near where I live....Anyways, just wondering what other people think of it or if anyone knows any good sources.....Peace, Stacey
T'ai Chi is absolutely incredible to watch - especially if there's a whole bunch of people doing it. I would recommend a class initially because you need to know that your posture is correct and if you can't see what you're doing, how do you know it's right? If you can't find any classes perhaps put some notices up saying that you wanna do one - perhaps there's a teacher out there just waiting for the opportunity! Failing that, Chi Kung (also called Qi Gong) is a good one to do - it focuses on moving the energy around your body with similar exercises to T'ai Chi. It's also used by Chinese Medical practictioners for healing, something to do with feeling and unblocking energies......anyway, good luck!
It's sad to say, but most of the tai chi out there today is a joke. There are so many peope who teach it who teach it incorectly. It is almost never done low enough or with enough fluidity. Once you see someone who knows what they are really doing do it, everyone else looks so sloppy. I don't mean to rain on anyones parade but check out several instructers before you start to have the best chance of finding correct form.
