has anyone seen the young ones? its so freekin funny! it was a uk hit in the 80s created by ben elton. ive only seen the first series. does anyone know if the second series is just as good?
That show is freakin' awsome, I have yet to encounter, until now, somebody else who had seen it, kick ass! As far as I know they only made eight episodes. All of them were fantastic.
http://www.michael.phatcatz.net/awtv/Comedy/YoungOne.html It was alright.. I like 'Bottom' and 'The new statesman' better.. The actors/comedians/writers and all the other things thay have all become or already were outshines it as a programe .. but yeah it was alright .. That all sounded faintly snobbish sorry.
The best Young Ones episode is where they appeared on University Challenge, great stuff. Wish they would screen it again.
Great Show, where else would you find a show cool enough to give Motorhead a musical spot!! I often quote lines from it, my fave is Neils "No! Wait! Jimi Hendrix once pissed on that amp!" You can see alot of future stars in it, French and Saunders appear in several episodes, before I even knew who they were or had a show of their own. Alexi Sayle was also a very funny regular, good cast all around.
Oh yes, I remember it well. I dunno, I prefer this to Bottom. Then again, I really like Neil. I remember the one where they were on University Challenge too, where they kept asking 'Bambi' about going into the meadow. Heh heh. "Neil, is it really necessary to nail the plates to the table? What happens when we want to play Monopoly? Go directly to plate? Do not pass plate nailed to the table by a stupid hippie?" I loved that epiosde too, where Vyvian gets 'pregnant' and Neil has to go to work with the police to support him.
And the punk loses his head when he looks out of the train window, then when the train stops he walks up to his severed head and boots it in the air when it talks back to him.
Classic show that one! Loved it. Surely there were more than 8 episodes though?? I remember it lasting longer than that, even though it was years ago. Loved Neil too, he was cool.
indeed there are more episodes than 8 .carnt remember how many tho ................./heavy man/ .............peace
yeah dude, heavy. thanks for that paulfreespirit, I thought my memory was even worse than it is?! I"m confusing myself, but anyooo, you know what I mean.?!
The first episode was the best i love when that little old lady goes up to neil and he goes "help im being hassled on the street by a chick" hehe. good to know theres so many young ones fans!
"The Young Ones" is the best show ever, in my opinion. And also my favourite Brit-com. I have every episode and even a rare record commercial for Neil's album. If you get the DVD set, (which I don't have, but I've heard people complaining about this) expect scenes to be cut and some musical numbers as well, as the BBC didn't want to cough up money for the royalties. FACISTS! The second season is every bit as brilliant as the first and makes me quite sad that there were only 12 episodes made. A brief episode guide and synopsis. Season 1: "Demolition" - Neil plans to kill himself while the others worry about a demolition notice. "Oil" - Vyv discovers oil in the basement, Mike becomes a dictator and Rik plots his overthrow. "Boring" -Oblivious of terrorists, dancing vegetables, and card-playing mice, the boys complain of being bored. "Bomb" - The guys discover an atom bomb in the house, just in front of the fridge. "Interesting" -The guys throw a wild party. "Flood" -The guys may starve to death while monumental rains threaten to run them out. Season 2: "Bambi" -The guys prepare for University Challenge, a college TV quiz show, hosted by a man Mike knows named Bambi. "Cash" - Neil becomes a policeman to earn money to support Vyv's baby. "Nasty" - Mike and Vyv try to get their rented video running while Neil has a bath. "Sick" - All the guys have colds, but Neil's sneezes threaten to collapse the house. "Time" - Rik wakes up with an axe murderess. "Summer Holiday" - When school lets out, the guys are so bored they plan to rob a bank. Special: "Comic Relief" - The boys prepare for the chance to sing "Living Doll" with Cliff Richard.
I loved how there was a different live performance in every episode, particularly the one by madness in the episode 'boring' "darling, do you think you could ever love a cripple?" "No, I don't think so"
