    no theme for Hipsters?

What do you think about it, did you vote?

I did, because I like the idea of an European Community.

Damn I just got back from my holidays in France, ran to the school where the election took place and they shut the doors just in front of my nose :( It was 18:01 when I arrived there *grrr* I think every one should go to the elections, it's the way democracy works, even if the institution we elect is only a, as we say in Germany, "paper tiger"... or do you know of any serious powers the European Parliament has except spending a lot of money for themselves? ;)

If I had been able to vote (see above) I had also voted for the Greens.... here in Germany they're a very strong party (in comparison to other countris), political surveys they that they'd gather about 15% of the votes if our government would be elected now. At the moment, they have about 11% and they form the government together with the social democratic SPD. I think the green party is the only one to give Europe a real future, away from economic interests and national prejudices.

    Read this:

I'm not old enough, but if I were, then I'd vote for Greens, as well.
They're not very strong here, though, they are working together with Youth Party (which sucks!) but that woman from Greens is quite good, really.

Greens only got 2,3% in Slovenia...and only 28% of legally allowed people voted...

    Love,

I like the idea of an European Community(like an opposite of nation-based states) , but...

    EU is too conservative

the borders between EU and non-EU states are very strong
there are too many restrictions for people... visas, passports - fuck it

    NO BORDERS NO NATIONS

    ONE WORLD-ONE RACE

I voted for United Left (Izquierda Unida, IU), here in Spain, they used to be the third force, but now they are little down, and it is becoming a fucking two-party system, like in the states, but it has to change again. the left will be reborn from the ashes, mwahahahahahaaaaaa.
At least PSOE (socialists) won, and not PP (fucking Aznar party).

I voted for "Folkebevægelsen imod EU" (Peoples movement against EU) which consists of what in the medias is known as the "radical leftwingers". I don't believe that progress can be equalled to systems, and EU is a system. I'm for a global unity of the people, but I'm against larger and larger political units - that just means more and more distance to the people, and decrease of democracy and a worthy human existance.
Unfortunately the leftwing in most European countries are quite pro-EU, so it's difficult for the peoples movement to join a bloc in Bruxelles (obviously they can't join the rightwing that resist the EU-project).

Nothing, but empty paroles and illusions will be felt close, and as Southernman showed EU reflects a conservative project rather than a socialist.

(I know this reply is delay, but at the time this thread was active, I was in not in the mood of speaking politics and such... but I feel better now, and I will take everything a bit more serious).

    love and understanding,

If Khaddafi can be invited to Brussels and he orders his tent be set up in the garden of the parliament and if Romano Prodi walks into his tent and sits by his knees then I think people should thank not to me but to Prodi.

wheres democracy, all those ideals? the EU is trying to play the US but too impotent and fickle to be fit.

I hope the greens can change that and the EU can enlarge with Canada and Australia. Thats my world vision.

I was hoping for a bigger turnout this year, but was greatly disappointed once again. The kind of people I would like to see vote just won't bother. As a result, we get a majority of right-wingers who stand for the very agenda these non-voters are against. I don't get it...

This year, a new "party" of EU-sceptics was formed in Sweden, and they managed to become the third biggest party in the election, stealing votes mostly from the "left block". I don't like this party, because they refuse to say what they are about apart from their EU-scepticism. They could be closet-nazis for all we know. But they have supposedly charming leaders, and populism goes a long way these days when nobody bothers to look for any information other than what is being fed to them by popular media.

I voted for the Greens obviously. Kind of a bad year for us though...

    peace
    -Pat
