Humans are one of the only species to kill there own kind and definitely the only species where individual members kill themselves. So what could possibly be the difference between humans, who might kill themselves, and animals that would never dare. For animals, no matter how hard the survival is, they will do their best to stay alive because they have a natural urge to do so. They will starve to death with dignity knowing that they had no choice in the matter, nature killed them. So why is it that humans might decide to take their own life in situations when starvation, being preyed on, or old age are non-existent. The will to carry on no matter what has been overtaken by the will to die. A human as an animal species could never make this choice. It is not the natural human that makes this choice, it is the ego inside this natural human that drives them to end their life. A friend experienced this first hand and told me about it. He used to hold some particular beliefs that where not reflected in the world around him. This was the cause of all his suffering, his egos resistance to the physical world. He held these beliefs for many years until he reached a point where he just couldn't cope. He was possibly very close to suicide. It was then that one of the greatest miracles happened to him. He was suffering so much that the intelligence of the true natural human took over.................. In one moment he went from suicidal suffering to the deep peace and intense joy of a forced enlightenment. His ego anilhilated itself! It was then he realised that all his years of suffering had been an illusion, an illusion of the ego. This method of reaching enlightenment is sometimes known as the way of the cross because your suffering (or cross) becomes the very thing that saves you, and frees you from the illusory world of the ego. The only way for suicidal people (and all humans who have not yet become enlightened) to live a pain-free life is to reach enlightenment and so be blessed with the deep realisation that all their pain was an illusion of the ego. It is the truth, not a belief. It saved my friends life, and if humans collectively become enlightened it will save the planet. This is what is known by Christians as the coming of Gods Kingdom....the absolute anilhilation of the collective human ego. I hope it is inevitable. I will be diong my best to realise this. PS - the anilhilation of you ego is not then end of you, it is the beginning of you. Seek enlightenment please, for you and all your friends and ultimately for all life. Enlightenment to all...then peace and love will naturally follow. I love you all, no exceptions.
Damn shame the "interesting fact" you chose to use to open this essay is false. A certain species of ant live in large tribes. These tribes will engage in intelligent warfare. Scouts will sneak to a rival tribe's nest, leaving behind them a trail so that the other members of his tribe will know where to go. It will also find out the nest's weak spots, and where its food and slaves are stored. These tribes will then fight and kill each other for territory, slaves, and food. Basically, imperialistic war. So how is the desire for enlightenment not an act of ego? How is telling us all about your enlightened friend not an act of ego? It's true, humans thrive off of ego. But to say one can "anihilate" [sic] their ego, and then post about it on the internet, is complete bullshit. I half expected this to end with, "Forward this to 15 friends and a window will pop up on the screen telling you how to become enlightened! Also, you will have a great sex life for the next 20 years!" Edit: From your sig: "I will preach nothing of the truth I know, but I will live my life in such a way that you will hopefully ask me to reveal it to you. I love you." So expecting us to admire your way of life so much that we will beg and bribe you to tell us the secrets of happiness isn't an act of pure, unadulterated ego?
Primates (I'm ashamed to admit) have been observed commiting murder in the wild, and rape, but not shoplifting to my knowledge.
I saw one trying to burn down a house down the street from here, but when I threatened to call the cops, he ran off. So add arson and possibly manslaughter to the list.
One of the chimps at the San Diego zoo stole another chimps food bowl, each of which has the owner chimps name on it, and tryed to pass it off as his own so we can add identity theft as well.
It is irrelevant that the interesting fact is wrong. Altering that statement does not change the main point of the essay. The ego acts to strengthen its sense of self. How is that strengthening my sense of self. I was sharing how my friends life has changed in the hope that others can see a way to a better life. The fact is that he now has a better life. No. Preaching about your way of life strengthens your sense of self. If someone asks you about your knowledge of life and you tell them it is nothing to do with the ego. The egos main fear is its own anihilation (thanks for the spelling). This is why it is so hard to preach to people about enlightenment because if the ego is in control it will resist everything you say. When it comes to judging whether actions are ego based or not the intention of the person must be known. My intention was in no way to strengthen my sense of self.
Maybe shaking lose of your ego = heaven I think organised religion, on the other hand, is a cop out; a way for people to convince themselves that they're going to get into heaven with their egos intact.
If youve read anything in the Covina News, ( I truly highly doubt it), you might of heard of the guy who got to personal with his monkey Theres a guy thats lived around here for who the hell knows how long, and he's had this big chimp he's "Adopted as his son" yes his son. and every now and then trouble starts up with this monkey, one time he was a hero saving a neighbor from a burgular, and the other time he bit some Animal COntrol officers fingers off. after a while this guy caused too much trouble in his neighborhood and refused to leave so they took "His son" away and left him in the san diego zoo.....after so many years of protesting and signing petitions to get his "Son" back he gave in to the system (Should Quit there), but no he didnt....he decided one eventful day to vist his old "Son" for his birthday....thats when he learned a lesson that his genitals(Wherever they are) shall never forget.....Three other chimps that were in the same habitat broke out and decided to get a lil randy with the Guys wife, but he stapped in and they procedded to tear him to shreds (literally) his foot was chewed off and all his fingers and toes were bitten off, his genitals were ripped off and thrown fifty yards, half his face is missing and he no longer has much hair on his chest. And thus ends the story of moe and his father
umm.. yeah, that's pretty much the core of Buddhism hon. Nice that you're happy and all, but please don't try to convert us. At least you're not at my door... with my knives in arms reach.
i guess the whole "animals eating their young" has been forgotten. or bulls fighting over cows and one dying. or cats fighting and killing over territory. dogs, too. then there's the whole thing where a perfectly well fed cat will kill just for practice. everything that humans do is closely reflected in nature, but our "egos" tell us that somehow our behavior is special, when in fact it's clearly not. sometimes it's just more complicated looking, but at the core it's purely animal.
yeah butch does speak some truth but being a christian i guess he would hate to admit that animals could have their own ego...
