I have seen it and holy shit its great

My favorite part is when Danko the bass player from te Band is tripping and playingthe acoustic while he sits next to Janis and Jerry Garcia. He looks so happy and child like, what an awesome movie.

Most likely we are. Danko is play a song, well trying, and Jerry and Janis are singing, and Danko starts clapping his hands in front of him and giggling. That was hilarious.

Man... we don't get good movies down here in south GA. I think I'm gonna have to wait for it to come out on DVD. Maybe it can be a Christmas present :)

I just got home from seeing this tonight. Fucking amazing. I got goosebumps from the performances of Janis, Buddy Guy, The Band, and of course The Dead. If you haven't seen this I would highly recommend it.

I had to get it back and didn't see disc two... anyone get to see that?

I thought the defend the promoter stuff was interesting.
He certainly took a bath on the project.
I kept cracking up at Phil, though.

I watch it all the time!!!! I've seen Buddy Guy several times and he always runs off the stage and goes outside while jamming away. Of course he's much older now, but he still jams out.
Janis's Cry Baby is the best version I ever heard. And seeing these legends off stage playing together was priceless.
And Phil cracked me up too, he was so serious in contrast to Jerry's laid back reactions.

duckandmiss, you're talking about danko and janis and jerry doing aint no more cane on the brazos ritght?? aah...thats got to be it...awesome awesome scene. i love that they're all so intune to eachother...at the end of the song janis asks danko..."you alright daddy?" cause he must be trippin hardcore...look at him. but i have to admit, one of my favorite scenes, yes, there are more than one...one of them is the opening scene...beginning ch2, delaney bramlett is playing guitar with someone (is the other guy from the flying burrito brothers?) and he's playing goin down the road feelin bad...and its just the best version of the song that i've ever heard. i've heard the dead doing goin down the road, but i don't like it as much as when delaney is doing it on the train. it sounds better by delaney. my next favorite is the interview with weir...right after the liquor store stop in calgary...he say that you could see some gelcaps floating at the bottom of the bottle (floating at the bottom????)...he tried his best to steer away from it...but the train was definately buzzing down the tracks..."we achieved liftoff for sure"...i love that line!!! "we achieved liftoff for sure" hahaha...god, don't you wish that you were on that train?

I'm searching intently for a used DVD in music and video stores. I just can't bring myself to fork over $20+ for a brand new one.

Choo Choo Ch'Boogie, man! It's great footage and sound for the time.

Sad, though, to see Janis - the special features with her singing Move Over and Kosmic Blues - because she was pure gold and clearly a very dynamic person to just be around, but the wear and tear of booze and drugs shows on her face and it's so sad, man, that no one could save her. :( At least we have the footage like Festival Express to awe us, and generations of music lovers to come.
