I think that this book is one of my favorite HST books. I love hearing his opinions and views and reading articles about today's society. Sure, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas is classic, but I happen to like this better.

Anyone else? Do you love it? Hate it? What do YOU think?

I thought it was pretty good, most interesting were the glimpses at HST's life, letters to people, and the info about his bust at the compound. I found the excerpts from other books to mostly be filler, I would have preferred more letters and stuff straight from HST that wasn't out there before, like the articles from RS and other places that you'd have to dig around for, his columns for Hearst's grandson and all that.

But that said I read the excerpts from the Rum Diary and I realized I should go and check that book out. So I got turned on to that book because of reading Songs of the Doomed, so that's a good thing as I really enjoyed HST's first novel.
