Does any of you guys here know the name of the body art that women from India paint on their hands for wedding ceremonies, it looks quite cool. The stuff is painted all over your hand like the whole finger length, even palm and wrist. I think Madonna had it in one of her videos ( the song is good, too, even tough I don't like Madonna, but this is off topic, pardon me! ). So please let me know if knows anything about it.
I had this done at an Indian food festival to raise money for building their temple. The henna was brown and I had to not wash it for minimum four hours...it then was much lighter but sorry...I saved the second pic in the wrong place, but I am sure you have seen stuff before. It was great and only lasted about a week as I didn't specially try and preserve it but if I had taken more care it would have lasted longer.
i went on holiday to some coast of spain and in the makets along the beach fronts they had women painting with black henna....i got a gecko in a ethnic pattern crawling aroung my wrist, it looked really beautiful and lasted for two weeks wen i got home i tried to find some black henna but it was £40 a tube!!! double pooey poop poo!!!!
Yeah thats henna..its a beautiful art...i like to consider myself a henna artist, in some forms of judism henna is fequently used for weddings...watch out for that black henna, it distroys skin and can leave a perminate burn and drasticly hurt your immune system...whe you go to get a henna tattoo make sure to ask about the ingrediance, if they say anything about "maginc black rocks" or hydrogen peroxide, your in the wrong place..the ony things that should be inclueded in a paste are natural products such as fruits, vegetables, coffee, tea, and henna powder..also watch out for the essential oils use, you could be sencitve to them...good luck!
It's "henna". It's also used in Islamic wedding ceremonies, where the bride, the night before she gets married, gets inked all over her hands and arms. The actual party (kind of like a bachlorette party, sans the chippendale's dancers) is called a henna, too.
i had my foot and ankle painted this way at an arts festival. man, that was fun i felt all funky! i love this kinda stuff.
