Who knows, or cares? All that we need be concerned with is the fact that we'll all (well a bunch of us anyhow) be leaving for the Dam this week to enjoy the freedoms that are unavailable to us at home. Imo, Fedor is welcome to show his mug at this party. The man is a HIP Forums "member" after all. See Ya's Soon!!
lctricity - you can assume that as someone asked the question and Fedor knows the answer that someone does care and someone does know! But you're right - it all pales into insignificance; today is my last full day at work! Tomorrow I leave early to go home and pack, grab my flight at a ludicrously early time on Wednesday morning for 10 days of debauchery in the Dam! Looking forward to bumping into you all at De Kuil.... The little dog laughed to see such fun!
Hey Shiny J, Have a great flight, I'll see you and the hip cats at De kuil on Friday. T-minus 3 days to lift off for me. I'm packing light, lucky Tie-dye shirt, Visine, a couple of Alka-Seltzers and any semi-clean cloths I can find around the house.
Thanks Ispica. It's only a 45 minute flight from London so there's not much to enjoy really but I'm grateful for that. My last flight out there however wasn't quite smooth; we flew in turbulent weather (Christmas time) - I wasn't too sure whether we were landing or being shot out the sky.... women and children were screaming as I threw them behind me in a rush for the exit.... All the more credit to you guys for making the journey across the pond - my flight cost me 60 euros and takes less time than it does for me to get to work (not including check in!), makes ya wonder why I don't go every weekend! (my health, actually!). For reference - it's always worth checking out whether you can get a cheap flight to London and then fly on to the Dam. My friend from Rome is coming here first as a flight from Rome to Amsterdam is more expensive than one to London and changing carrier to get a flight to Amsterdam. Long live the budget airlines!
45 minutes from Amsterdam!! That sounds dangerously close, I might be there every weekend. I know what you mean about the airfare, it's cheaper for me to fly from Boston to Rome then it is from Amsterdam to Rome. Personally I like the European trains better. You avoid a lot of the check in hastles, the food is better and you can catch a nice nap.
Holy Drama, Batman! Geez, I come back after a week hiatus from the hipforums and crazy drama in our "oh so nice" queensday threads. I'm not even gonna go back and read through that mess. Whatever I guess... See you guys on Friday! I'm going now to get my hair dyed blue for my trip (it'll be easier to spot me, I guess)
btw...we have over 20 people that may meet up at De Kuil Now!! sapphyreluna + boyfriend yogibear bigmyg + wife mopperm1 +3 lctricity mikeymike matt ohealy + bro ispica shiny j speedracer jazz koopa + 3 thats 21 total!!!!!! lets party international jetsetter style
This is great, any break down on the nationalities? So far I count American, British, Italian, Greek, and a few wild cards that have given up any alligence.
Well, there's not just me turning up.... so if we're doing the colours of benetton thing.. Shiny J (Joe) - Born and bred Irish. Living in London via Spain. Sophia & Sandrine - French passports but English born to Italian father (decide for yourself) Sophia in London, Sandrine in the Dam. Leo - Italiano, del sud. Luke - English passport, bred in South Africa but not a Boer. Bas - Dutch, tall, charming; you know the type. Michael - Dutch, self confessed nerd bless him, but a talented one. Ida - Aussie married to... ..Joris - Native neighbour and friend of tall charming type above. + unknown friends of above mentioned natives (btw - some of those Dutch names are probably spelt v. badly) Ispica - I hope you don't hate me for this but it's a cultural thing - I may be completely underestimating your understanding and if so I apologise in advance..... Few people will ever tell you that they are British. They're either English, Welsh or Scottish. Of the three only the English will admit to being 'British'. The Irish are most certainly not British. Am I sounding pedantic yet? Yep. So I'll stop now with the intention of not appearing to be too sensitive. :& It's 1:40am here and I'm finishing the last of my hash, drinking some wine and typing too much. Someone stop me.... ranting now.... calling in sick tomorrow...
I'm teh Greek and my wife is half hawaiian & half portuguese! oh.... and I'm already packed and my flight leaves on Thursday!!! I soooo can't wait!!!
intricity get ready to get on that "big ole jet airliner" tomorrow, see you at central cs wed. morning. see the rest of you hipsters friday at the dekuil!!!! sounds like a fine group has formed for the meet. rock on!!
Hi Shiny J Thanks for the correction on the British thing, I'll update my mental operating systems. I think I known what you mean, I sometimes fly under a Sicilian flag and often have to explain that Sicilians are only "Italians' when it's convienient. Sounds like we've a great crowd. I leave Thursday afternoon arriving Friday afternoon, then off to a warmbaker (sp?) a quick nap before the bafoonery.
Just want to wish all you Queensday ravers in having a good time. Look forward to seeing any possible photos that you will hopefully post here. Have a good one and give it large
Right On mopperm1!! You do the same brother. I can't believe the day has finally arrived. Less than 24 hours and we'll be smokin' in Amsterdam. A fine group of HIPsters indeed and I look forward to seeing you ALL soon. Really have enjoyed everyone's comments leading up to all of this. I'll check in from the Dam a few times while there, and if I can figure out how, send some new pics! See Ya's Soon!
Are all you guys coming to Amsterdam just for queensday??? Or is it by coincidence that queensday is in the period of your vacation? Because there are quite a lot of people on the list
fedor: I think half planned it and half didn't. I myself I planned it then off to spring beer festivals in germany. always try to plan these trips on their holidays to experience them. gotta go catch my flight!!! later gator!
I usually head over to Amsterdam somewhere between late February to Late March, I like having the city to myself. I've got some good friends who live on the Single that have insisted I catch at least one Queens day, so this is it. I used to go in the summers when the city was a hippie free for all. It definitly has it's benefits. Now I like alittle more tranquility, but this year it sounds like it's time to party like it's 1981. What a long strange trip...
