So I spent most of this semester with very few friends here at the university. It got lonely at times and often had to fend for myself in my classes. Well, we had a big Earthfest last Monday and I ran the UT Vegetarian Group's booth. Ever since then, I walk to and from class and get about a dozen or so "Hi"'s from people. It's kinda cool and real refreshing...normally I'd walk to and from class with my face to the ground just sort of dazed and in my own little world. It IS nice to be social after all. I've been avoiding social interation all semester...and now I could kick myself because I've met so many great people...but we only have one week of classes left. Then everyone goes home for the summer. What a bummer... There's always next semester!
I dont like being social at school..im there to learn and not to make friends...shitty way to go, but hey thats me...
I kind of had the same attitude, but it was really cool to meet people who were similar to me and had similar thoughts and ideas. Even the same lifestyles! It was great! Made me want to learn more. The university I go to is sort of conservative, so to see all the progressive people out at Earthfest was really great and refreshing...lots of hairy armpits and legs, lots of djembes, lots of long skirts, lots of long hair...but no dreadies (except for me!), though. Just gave me a real warm feeling inside.
eh don't worry... I got a sister here (just that close) and random friend-like aquantencies... tis life.
I made a lot of freinds in college, it got hard to walk down the street because I had to stop and talk to every other person..... It was such a dramatic change from high school, it shocked me.... I started to stay at school during the summer because I had so much more fun there than in my hometown. Now everyone is scattered around and I don't see too many of them anymore. I remember not wanting the little scene to end when we graduated, but it does.
