look, now, i trust our government, even though i dont always agree with them. I REALLY doubt that the united states government, one of the best on the planet, would rip women's babies from them. In fact, single parents would almost undoubtedly be exempt from the draft.

Also, what right does a woman have to be exempt from the draft simply because our outdated social values say that a woman should stay home and cook? If you want equal rights, then you FIGHT EQUALLY for equal rights. It does NOT take testosterone to fight for good

And you know this because...? In fact, a new draft is a very real possibility as long as Shrub and his cronies are allowed to push their Imperialistic agenda.

I don't believe anyone should be drafted but if it happens women as well as men should be included.

Should the new draft be instituted the age limit will rise to 35.

I'm older than dirt, I was there during Viet Nam. I know what is possible in this country today, and it scares the bejesus out of me.

even if woman are drafted, they will not be put in infantry units. that doesn't necessarily mean they won't be harmed, but more or less, they will not see a lot of combat.

You quibble about the proportion of men to women dying on the battlefield of Bush's next oil venture?

i never said anythign about the proportion of men and woman dying in Iraq. my post is directed to the draft.
i also think you are getting a division, which is normally between 10-15 thousand soldiers with units in the division specically made as an infantry unit. there is a major difference. the infantry unit does most of the combat. soldiers in the division will have numerous jobs, from intelligence to air control. woman, as of right now, have not been put into a infantry unit, they have been put into infantry divisions.

and i never said woman were not put in dangerous positions. i know there have been many woman soldiers deaths, and some have been caputured, but that does mean they are frontline infantryman. that was the point of my post.

Why? There is no need for it. Nobody is asking for it and nobody wants it. I think the easiest way to ruin the "imperialist agenda" would be to institute a draft.

This is a scare tactic by democrats.

The reason for another invasion is simple; oil.

This is how the Texas oil man drills now:

You can bet the next country that Bush claims has "weapons of mass destruction" will also have a lot of oil.

If you live in a country where you get drafted. In what sense are we free? If you are forced to fight by your leaders, in what sense do we live in a world that cherishes peace?

With all due respect. The right to bear arms is a great liberty to have when you take into account why you are allowed to. The people have the power (apparently) in the USA. This is shown by their freedom to bear arms. For the simple reason that if your government starts doing things that the masses do not like, you can go to your arsenal, pick your favourites and go kill the people abusing their power. There is no other reasonable excuse to have a gun. The UK have had no people reforms since the Magna Carta, which basically said the people of this country have a right to serve and pay taxes. Please use your guns. A revolution or two is long overdue.

All is one entity as God.

Well lets be fair. It isn't just oil, but the concept is correct. It is a war for resources. It always has been and always will be. Ever since the crusades, the reasons for war have been all to obvious and all to overlooked. 'This is my land/resource'. It is only the excuse for war that is different each time. 'Terror', 'Freedom', 'Democracy', 'Communism'. Just words used by the media to instill fear and intice support for war.

Another interesting little thing is that The US makes an awful lot of money from arms dealing. If you were to take that revenue away from USA.gov, it would be damaging to the US economy as a whole.

Bill Hicks pointed out that Bush said 'we live in a dangerous world. Of course it is you silly f***, you are selling nasty weapons to everybody.'

Where do we go when we can no longer stnad idly by?

Why? If men can be drafted, why shouldn't women? (Pending of course medical situations) Are not women and men supposed to be equal?

Well, they aren't, as much as some women want them to be. If we were really equal, we would all be either women or men, not both....the whole equality feminist thing is retarded, I think.... I hate having to feel guilty for wanting to stay home with my kid and take care of the family I love instead of slaving all day at a job I hate for a lousy paycheck and never getting to spend time with them...that's man's work! hehe... :D

Anyway, I think we were created in different ways to be able to do different things, and women weren't created to be warriors. I would go insane trying to sweep all the dust out of my tent and trying to iron out all the creases, and I wouldn't hardly be a very valuable asset to the cause. :)

I fully agree HaHaGirl. Women should not be drafted. Children need their Mothers. Jozak, I find your lack of chivalry disturbing. If you don't get it, that says a lot about your character.

Cyberfly your argument would be just as valid for saying why women shouldn't work. Who needs that kind of "chivalry".

Try coming up with a real reason.

Ok, so a woman who has the same intelligence as I do can get a job over me (which is understandable), BUT, a woman who is in better physical shape than me should not be drafted over me to serve in the military because she's a woman? So men and women are equal in the workplace, but not at war?

Haha...I think we should bring everyone home and send over all the our fine boys in Hell's Angels....and it would be even better if we could get them to settle their differences with the Banditos long enough for an allied attack....:)

Imagine chilling out in your cave, and jumping to a start at the sound of hundreds of thousands of Harleys coming up over the horizon, carrying on their back the hardcore, hippie killing soldiers armed in leather and studs....Grrr....

I never said that i thought women should be drafted too, I was just pointing out that there is no comparison between war and work.

My stance on the issue is...women should have the equal right as men to sign up for the military if they choose. I don't like the draft at all, for men or women. I dont want to see my husband be drafted anymore than myself...in fact, i would rather myself before a loved one!

I think if we are fighting a war that is supported by our citizens than we would not need a draft.
