i live in MI and we get some crazy weather it has been about 80 for the last few weeks and my plants are in cups but i keep them outside. they sprouted about 3 weeks ago and have been doin good untill we had a unexpected snow fall. i brought my plants inside but i have no high powerd lamps. will they make it? how long? and if they wont can i use any old lamp?
Actually you can use any old lamp, they just won't grow very well. I used to overwinter 1 or 2 females this way by leaving them on a window ledge all day, then at night I put them under a normal 100w bulb and they carried on growing. Come summer I take off as many cuttings as I can ready to plant.
Do you have any fluorescent lights or lamps? Placing your plants under florescent light may help them survive for longer indoors. I'm not sure how well regular incandescent lights will work, though.
Yes power strip flourescent lights or the ones people use in their aquariums are better still, by far. A normal 100w bulb is a quick fix only and not effecient at all. I just wanted to keep the plant ticking over and barely alive and it worked fine for me.
