so i've turned into a low scale ebay freak. for all these years i wondered, wondered how i'd make some quick easy money without doing much. i hope ebay is my small scale answer.

that being besides the point, i do have bucket (and i mean BUCKETS) of fabric. i've been collecting for years (since i made my own doll clothes) and it takes up 1/2 of my closet and 1/4 my room space. now i'm moving to an apartment and realize that i must do SOMETHING with all this great fabric! i've got corderoy, linen, everything!

so then i thought...hey, why not cut the fabric into uniform squares, maybe 12 in x 12 inches and sell a whole bunch that go together. perhaps throw in a yard or 1/2 yard of corderoy. make it a whole set - patches and corderoy - a ready cut patchworking kit. perhaps some of the kits could have varied sized patches. maybe i'll even throw in a quick patchworking how to guide, for beginners.

what do you guys think about that?

    great.
what size would be preferable? large, so you can cut em down if necessary?
do you like the edges to be cut with those special scissors that make it be like little triangles on the edge? (you know, like, sewing scissors) so they won't fray as easily?

i have never bought em with pinked edges (the triangles) but it wold be a nice touch for someone without a serger.... i always use anywhere from 4 by 4 inch squares to maybe 7 by 8 inch rectangles........................ maybe throw in a pre cut applique or two =)

I have bought lots of quilting squares off of ebay... Saves me the pain of having to cut the patchwork myself.. Its a great Idea.. The easiest way to cut them is probably to get a rotery cutter and mat.... They also have rotery cutters with the pinking sheer edge...

That sounds great! I´ve never thought that someone sells something like that on ebay. The how to guide is also a great idea, to put in the patchworking kit!!

cool, i'm inspired. i'll keep ya posted!
funky fresh say small squares, 4 in x 4 inch. do the rest of you concur? or larger? or mixed lots? small and large squares, plus rectangles.
do you like the idea of including some larger cordery pieces for the bodice?

I think a bit larger squares would be better. I got some squares in a squares exchange on one list that I am on. They were 4 by 4 inch squares. But I needed 3 inch squares for the project I used them in so the extra fabric was wasted. I couldn't use a 1 inch piece anywhere. Or you could offer both.

I think 12x12 would be good, then if you need smaller ones you can cut them, but half the work is already done.

And I think that's a great idea, I would totaly buy that!

Hey, you said you have linnen, do you have any in a darker purple that you might want to sell? I need it for a project and I'm being lazy and haven't gone to the good fabric stores yet.

nah, no dark purple. just 'linen-y' colors like tan.
hmm...and i looked at ebay under patchworking squares, and all the packages were listed for super cheap, and nobody was bidding. but...they weren't 'hippie patchwork,' a theme that seems to be hot...
