well if not, you owe it to yourselfs to check these albums out if you can find them, blue lake is still in print, and you could probably find orient online. hes the only trumpet player i have more respect for than miles.
I like his son's music better. Desireless is a great album... one of the best pop albums of the late '90s.
Yeah, I dig Don Cherry; I have a few of his solo albums (Mu Parts 1 & 2, Eternal Rhythm, Brown Rice, Blue Lake, Orient, Relativity Suite), plus the Actions for Freejazz Orchestra album w/Kryzstof Penderecki and the Avant-Garde album w/John Coltrane. There's also a really great trilogy of albums by Codona (Don Cherry, Colin Walcott & Nana Vasconcelos) that's worth checking out. I have the first two, and it's good, good stuff...
yea, if you like that natural world and jazz fusion style. its can be very relaxing, then blow your mind when it gets all crazy.
how ya doin spaceduck? the rainbow family is trying to stalk me and make fun of everything i say on this forum, it's pretty gay. kind of funny though. i did make fun of them first though.
Hah! They crack me up. I haven't had a good dose of hippiestead in a while. I've been chillin lately, hiding from people & avoiding daylight. The usual stuff. Recently got a copy of "The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway" & am totally blown away (yeah... I'm waaaay behind on the classics, but catching up). How bout you? Still rockin on that gtr pedal?
yea man. the lamb lies down is my favorite genesis album by far. i love that song back in ny city, into the hairless heart. and on side 2, the song riding the scree! that keyboard solo blows me away every time i hear it.
Funny thing, when I copied TLLDOB onto my mp3 player, the sequence got all screwed up, so I'm listening to all the songs out of order. Yeah, sacrilege. I'm such a lazy ass.
that sucks. i got to see the musical box perform the lamb this year, it was amazing and i think they are doing another tour soon. we should meet up at a show.
Man as soon as something worthwhile comes to Philly-NYC area, we need to get a caravan going. You could bring your axe and give us a pre-game warmup.
There's more than one Don Cherry. Ask Canadians who Don Cherry is, and they'll mention the very colorful -- and sometimes controversial -- commentator on CBC Television's "Hockey Night in Canada." (God, will I be happy when the National Hockey League lockout finally ends). -- Skeeter
haha ya, when I saw this thread I was wondering why anyone would make a thread about Don Cherry in the music forum. Actually, I was kinda hoping it was going to be about him putting out some album of just ranting at the french and european hockey players.
