hey people, i just wanted to tell everyone that i think i'm losing my faith in jesus christ. i've grown up in a christian home and now that i'm 24 and going through college i don't feel that i believe in jesus christ anymore. has anyone else gone through this? don't get me wrong, i still believe that there is an allmighty god whose created the universe and everything else, but i just don't know if i believe that a man, jesus, is god the father, god the son and god the holy spirit, and that only through him we can get to heaven, and without him we burn in hell eternally. come on! do you really think a god that great is going to leave it up to a man to save us? don't you think that god made us with brains so that we can reason with them? is it really reasonable to believe in jesus christ as the only way to heaven otherwise you go to hell? that's crazy shit, and i have to believe that god wouldn't send anyone to a place called hell for not believing in something completely unreasonable. Where's the proof? I'll tell you what, if the rapture happens in my life time, then i'll believe with absolutely no doubt in my mind, and until god tells me in some way that jesus is the only way, then i'll believe with no doubt. also, to most everyone who reads this... don't you realize what you're all doing to the environment? stop supporting the ruthless slaughter houses and REPENT!! Do you think god wants us to be cruel to animals, and produce them like paper plates to throw away? if you saw the way that animal lived, the way it was tortured and what it was pumped full of to make it bigger and fight off disease, if you saw the way it died, would you really want to eat it and feed it to your children. it's a fucking mad house! you don't know what your feeding your children, please LOOK AT THE INGREDIENTS, if you don't know what it is, don't eat it! Stop supporting the parade of sickness! okay, i'm done now. have a nice day ps while i was a christian no one ever talked to me about being a vegetarian, adopting cruel-free habits, doing my best to preserve the earth and my environment. why? i guess christians are too worried about prayer and worship and you're relationship with god, to even be one bit concerned with the world you live in and what an impact you make.
right on, i've seen books about christianity and vegetarianism/veganism and they looked very good. i agree, if were to follow jesus christ which the religion and our society has made look some unrealistic impossible goal we all sordove chuckle at when he hear, we have to start loving this place where at right now more and do more good and put a little more focus on what we see going on right now in this physical reality. its not some complicated complex task, just do more good, and make the world a little better, if anything, thats all, its as simple as that. and the answer is no, i think. if people saw the situation that was going on they probably wouldnt eat it. i bet anybody who has to work in a factory farm or anything like that to that does not touch meat, for their health reasons and ethical reasons. i agree wholeheartedly, think the meat indsutries are a sin if there ever was one, like you said with the havock they wreck on the environment and the aboslutley absurd ways they treat and grow these animals, and for what? so we can cut our life span down and maybe die of heart disease? its not like i get turned on when i see a dead carcass or animal anyway. when i see roadkill or a dead bird or a bunny grazing in the grass, do i start thinking "MMMMM get the grill!!!" no way!!
jesus, i know more about this and im not christian! jesus was not just a man. im sorry but jesus was the son of god and came back to life. normal men do not come back to life. if he had not come back to life then no one would care for him more than all the other peace-bringers. i dont believe he was the son of god myself, but you, being brought up a christian, surely should know this. and jesus killed animals and god wanted animals to be killed, evidently he doesnt really care much about animal life next to humans *rolls eyes*
I'll agree that the meat market animals aren't the healthiest thing. But there are still ways to get your meat. A. Raise them yourself... and get someone else to kill them if need be. B. Help the local farmer and by the animals that they raise. Never had a crisis of faith in the way you decribe it. Mine was that Christianity only focused on what wasn't here. I wanted to also have something that held what was here in some honor. Not nearly as high, but higher than myself. So I added in Taoism and Wicca.
Sunshine, this is very common. Many people grow up believing what their parents and the other people around them believe. Then they (ok, we) come to realize that we're trying to coast through on what other people believe more than thinking for ourselves. Don't beat yourself up over it. Be very honest and gentle with yourself and try to learn as much about yourself and your beliefs as possible. Christians disagree on vegetarianism and veganism, so it's one of those things you've got to follow your own heart about. IMHO, I think veg'ness is the best path for a Christian.
Sunshine Daydreams (can I call you SunDay for short? :H): Don't worry, you're not alone. StonerBill is right, that Jesus was (supposedly) no ordinary man, he had crazy powers and stuff, but even so ... I've been where you are, doubting faith. And the way I see it ... if you live a moral life, and you are a good person and do everything as best you can, and be nice and stuff ... but, you just happen to not believe in God for whatever reason ... did you know that even though you are a great person, you're condemned to an eternity of damnation and torture, according to the Bible? Now, c'mon, why would God send you to hell if you're a good person, just because you didn't believe in him because he didn't give you enough proof? In my opinion, I would not follow a God that is so stuck-up and pious. I'd rather follow Satan, at least he's got balls enough to give God the finger to his face and start his own kingdom, hehe. I mean, doesn't Hell work on "the strongest survives?" Sounds a lot like nature. And nature can't really be pure evil, can it? =P Seriously, though, don't limit yourself! Being Christian blinds you to many other views; you should also look at other religions, and look at non-religions! I bet you didn't know, you can be Buddhist and Christian at the same time! Most people, when they hear that, would say "what the heck?" But it's true. You're missing out on so many viewpoints and possiblities; if Christianity is just one possibility, imagine how many other Hells you could be going to if one of the other possibilities is the real deal! =P Good luck, dude/ette!
Okay a couple things. First, thanks for your replies. Second, I don't think it's necessarily wrong to raise your own animals for your own consumption, it's the massive slaughter houses I'm am opposed too. Third, StonerBill, you don't make any sense, first you tell me that i should know that Jesus is the son of god because I grew up a christian, then you say that you don't believe he's the son of god anyways. that's exactly the point of my post! pass me that joint that's got you all fucked up in the head. Okay, have to get back to physics !
Ok God made animals for us to eat Who cares what they have even if they make us sick and die were gunna die anyway. and God's testing ur faith... Just trust him and hell help you. hahahaha at the "pass me that joint that's got you all fucked up in the head."
I don't think God made animals just for us to eat. It's not just about "what they have", it's about the treatment of them. Do you really think God wants us to torture animals by the millions? That's not how it was back in the day, that's just how it is now. I think we should respect all of God's creation. God is about love right? I don't think we're teaching our children to be loving, or any of our society for that matter when we cause suffering to so many animals. One more question, if God wanted animals to be here just so we can eat them, then why did he give them the ability to love and feel pain. Some animals can love they're young and they're family just like we can (not to our intelligient extent of course). Just one of the many examples: pigs have the intelligence of three year old humans. Three year olds sure can feel and think can't they! Just because you've been raised around the slaughter and consumption of animals for meat, does not mean it's okay... take a real look at what's going on!
right on man^^ So find yourself first, when you do that, you'll be able to believe what feels right for you.
im not even gonna start in the debate of whether feedlots/slaughter houses are humane or not..but i say to anyone who says that christainy is a veggie religion... [about Jesus cleansing all the foods] im not sure the pasage number or even the book, but it goes somehtign like...the weak of faith eats vegtables alone, but the stong of faith eats all foods [or something] i know it probobly doesnt mean how i use it, but still
In the Old testament the slaughtered animals for their blood so they could talk to God. Yeah they have feelings thats why we dont eat cats and dogs. pigs are dumb and they dont know if they had the intelligence of a 3 year old they would talk maybe.
I lost faith as well, at about 19. I felt like I still believed in Santa. I respect others beliefs, but do not follow. I have my own ideas. I think it's normal, I know alot of people who have "lost faith".
Oh, and Amber, pigs are actually very intelligent, I am surprised you didn't know that. They are considered one of the most intelligent animals, up there with dogs. Intelligence and pain and suffering are two different things.
1)personaly i think most of the bible is mith bullshit. i think what religin is, is just a code of ethics to live by, no more, the rest of the shit was just built up by people that over shot the consecpt and chritinty is now is more harm then good, all the "christians" i know are either jesus freaks or catholics that think the mithology is more important then the ethics 2) i dont think loss of faith is a bad thing, that might be showing you that the religion isnt right for you or right in general 3)preaching that killing animals is wrong i think is just ignorant belivie what you want but animals kill animals all the time so why can humans we are animals, i think that we should try and do it more like killing animals in the wild and not rasing them to die in a littile cage
No ma'am i didnt know pigs were intelligent. Well i guess we all have differnt views on how see animals.
ummm,,,,yeah, i know they eat them...and it appears you didnt...thats the hole in your argument i was pointing out
