Well, Beaker has peed in my bedroom today. It must have been a while ago because I checked my entire floor and found no wet spot so it must've dried already but it stinks sooooo bad....omg. Here's my question. Since I cannot find the spot I can't clean it (and I cannot afford 100 bucks to rent a carpet cleaner and do the whole floor) so does cat pee smell go away with a couple days of airing out the room? Or do I need to spend the money to have the whole floor cleaned?

    little stinker

No, it will not go away.
$100 to clean you bedroom? What? You live in the Taj Mahal? You rent the cleaner with the gold leaf trim?:p Seriously, it shouldn't cost you more than $20 to rent cleaner and buy the shampoo, if that.

Can you narrow the area down at all? Because if you spray vinagar over the stinky area it cuts the ammonia-cat-stink. But then you are left with the vinagar stink, which to some people isn't much better. My cat went through a period where he was angry at me because there were other cats living with us ( I was cat sitting). So to get back at me he pee'd all over anything he could!

My cat pees on beds. We never could figure out why. And I can tell you -- even AFTER we wash the blankets --- you can STILL smell it. Luckily my cat is neutered or the smell would be ten times worse.

The best thing you can buy is the stuff that is made specifically for removing cat and dog urine scents. I would just use it over all of the carpet and scrub it good, then vaccuum the water out of the carpet. Whenever I clean, I open the window and put the fan on the sill. It helps get rid of both the icky smell and the cleanser smell.

thanks. i guess i'll just have to rent a carpet cleaner then....only $20? That's good.....my parents rented one about a month ago and mentioned something about it being $100......
I wouldn't mind the smell of vinager but I can't seem to narrow down the smell to any one area.

I have the same problem. I know where the spot is kind of, but no matter what I do it won't go away. Good luck. I think if you go to a hardware store, the carpet cleaner is cheaper.

thanks. yea i've been burning incense like crazy. but the good news is you get used to the smell rather quickly so i'm still able to sleep in my own bedroom:p

it's like when my other cat peed in my car on the way to the vet. I cleaned it and even a year later people would get in my car and be like "did a cat pee in here?" I was totally used to it by then - I didn't smell it at all. I thought it had completely gone away but I guess it lingers for so long.
