I started thinking of planting all of my yard in bamboo. At first it was a joke, then the more I thought about it, the more sense it made. If I had the 30 foot high stuff, it would completely cover my house. So, I would never have to paint my house again. Also, I could use the bamboo for numerous projects (furniture, building houses, Bongs!). I use to play in a bamboo patch when I was a kid. It was very dark & sucluded. We had tunnels cut through it with little rooms. It sounds like I want to make my own Giligan's Island. Reverting back to my childhood? Maybe, I have been dreaming of dressing in jungle fatigues and spring out of the bamboo to frighten the Mail lady, lol. The neighbors might bitch, but I think they would get over it.
I have been looking at bamboo plants, or 'clumps' on the net. Its pretty expensive. :( I know it will grow here, (northern ohio) because they have differnt breeds of hardy stock bamboo that can withstand temps at 0 degrees F.
Most people want to get rid of it because it speads fast and covers everything. If anyone has some 'roots' or clumps they are throwing away, please throw them my way. I prefer the 2 in thick bamboo, but I will take anything I can get. I will pay for the shipping of course. Message me if you can help for details.

Dude that sounds awesome, I love bamboo, there was a bamboo forest in the woods on the edge of the creek me and some friends use to go in and sit, because nobody could see us in there(we had on camo) and we could see other people, but they were like 200 feet away, and it had bamboo that was a good 5 inches in diameter. Ive always wanted to get it growing behind my house, all you gotta do is go get some from the woods and plant it, i think I will do that this fall/winter, because i think it spreads fast, It would be cool to have a house built out of bamboo, I heard it was stronger than wood, but I could be wrong.

Oh and a lot of people around here call it Fishing Cane, cause u can make fishing poles from it, i have before, it works great.

Thank you Swt1, your very kind :)
I think you have to break up the roots with a shovel....or an axe. No,....the axe might kill it....shovel.
