Heya all well im a tatooaphobe but they intruige me lots. I love body art and have books on it etc etc. I saw on one tatoo art book a girl with a tribal image done totally in white ink. I loved it, it was subtle, not in your face, femanine, and yet earthy and tribal. fantastic. I looked into it, spoke to a few tatooist, apparently they fade after a few years. Now does that mean they totally dissapear or do they go a scummy patchy way? i wouldnt mind if it faded after a few years completely but i wouldnt want to be left with some patchy pile of ink on me. (one reason why i've avoided tatoos so far) anyone have any opinions of white ink designs or know anything about them?? Cheers. Fleassy xox
I knew a girl who had some white ink on her back. She'd had it for about four years, I think she said. I liked it, but at the same time it sort of looked like a very subtle scar after a while. I think it's a neat idea, but I have heard they do fade a lot. The girl's didn't look patchy or anything, just very faint. I hope that helps a little!
I have some white as an accent (bee's wings) that has held up real well. It is about 3 years old. I did have some orange that I just got touched up that faded in a patchy way - I've heard orange is prone to fading. All in all, I keep color well so far. I think if you're going to be in the sun alot would make a difference - use sun screen!
I'm intrigued.. Does anyone have a photo or pic of a white ink tatoo? I don't know if I'm totally sure what everyone is talking about!
That's really rather cool, very subtle. Thanks for posting the pics.. I don't reckon I could get one myself, I'm too much of a whiteboy... So I take it if you got tanned or browned up then the tattoo would stay white? Or would it go slightly darker as well?
I have a Rainbow Brite tattoo with some white, the tattoo is crap and I am getting it covered, but the white on her outfit snf boots has completely faded, its been touched up once, and its not even a year old. It might just depend on the person.
your welcome! Actually, on that site that I got those picts, they were saying that the paler you are, the better the white ink takes to your skin. They also said that the minute you get in the sun that it begins to fade. So I don't know, I thought that the darker your skin was, the more it would show up, but I guess not!
i am getting jack skellington on my back next monthish, and they are using blakc and white ink, instread of just black. i'll post pictures when i get it done
wow, those look awesome. Now my mom's considering a tattoo in white ink, lol. Something nice and subtle
Wikid. Im actually quite cool with the idea that it fades you know... it means its there for me and if i like it i can always get it re done. and they do look fantastic... i already knew that
Seems like it depends on how the artist does it to how much and how badly it fades as well...We have a coupla excellent artists close by and they do some incredible subtle work..looks as if someone and painted a fine arts piece on her arm and I haven't heard any complaints about their work fading fast or weirdly patchy from dozens of people that have had work done there.
"The effect of white ink differs greatly among clients, and its visibility and retention on the skin has much to do with the natural coloration of your skin. White ink seems to work best on very light-skinned people. Unfortunately, this means people with dark skin would not able to get a white ink tattoo on their skin to have a "photo negative effect" that looks like a negative of a dark colored tattoo on light skin. This is because the ink sits under your skin, and the layer of skin over the ink is tinted with your natural skin color. So if you have very dark skin, the white will be overwhelmed with your natural melanin." Information source
white ink is cool. i had a friend who had the water symbol in white, and you could only see it when she got tan.
Here's pictures of some of the white, I have. Mine is all accent, but it shows up real well on me, and I have very light skin. I don't know if you can even see those. The resolution on my computer is crap or something.
well you guys inspired me, im going to give myself a white ink tattoo. Ill keep you guys updated and ill be posting a pic.
haha! yay, I can't wait to see it. I wish I could just "give myself a tattoo" whenever I wanted. Damn tattoo artists.
