Tried to upload photo's and couldn't

Does anyone know what I could be doing wrong? I got a message saying it was too large. I zipped both, then each was 475 kb...which should be well below the zipped '2mb' limit. I don't know if it means 2 mb in total for all photo's I want to up load, or 2 mb each, but in any case these should gave uploaded. Any suggestions? Also, not sure if I should be posting this here...

 

I don't believe that you can upload zipped formats. You will probably need to reduce the file size of the photos. I suggest you check out a program called irfanview. You can just open up the photo, then save it again using a reduced quality. You really won't be able to tell much of a difference in quality if any at all, but it will decrease the file size dramatically.

 

They do NOT allow .zip files here. What they mean by File Size, is TWO things. First, the actual size of the picture. Full page? or is it very small? Look at the difference between MY signature pic, and Shockw4ve's pic. HIS is larger.
The second, is the size of the FILE. Like, 6 mb vs 79kb.

 

It states the size it needs to be when you try to upload. I believe it's 150kb. Irfanview is a very easy freeware program I use to resize but most photoshops should have that feature as well. It has that option on the top task bar and the I usually save both and rename the new one by adding an "a" or the word resize. But the size of each piece has a restriction and it is listed. I went thru the same thing till I realized how easy it is to resize. Theres links to download. I was having trouble geting Irfanview to open but its working now.

Thanks for the response....this is what is on the upload page (bottom), am I seeing something wrong? Even if I am seeing this the way I think it is, it's still not uploading because the zipped folder I have for each is 475 kbs...if you're onlly allowed 150 kb though, why would we be allowed up to two mb in a zipped, I guess I'm not seeing this the right way. I wanted to put in a few paintings I did and use one as an avatar, but I didn't see where to upload your own avatar either, looks like you can. I noticed the premade ones, but didn't see where to upload your own. Not doing good am I? LOL!
I'll just downsize a few and see if they look ok, if it's even worth doing...

Ok, I just resized a couple of the pics and they were each below 150 kb...there must be something I'm doing wrong...if they are resized any smaller we'll have to invent a pixel magnifier...
I did resize them in the Camedia software I have that came with the Olympus digital...I like the software, it's easy to use and having bought a Nikon digital a couple weeks ago I could be using that (Nikon) software but Im going to keep using the Camedia, in any case, I know its resized ok....don't know..

 

We tryed to upload photos and it just wouldn't do it; no message about file size or anything. Then again we fall into the cyber-stupid catagory; we're lucky we even figured out how to use the pre-set avatars!

 

'you can't always get what you want, but if you try sometimes....' I finally got photo's uploaded. It's possible I tried to upload ones larger in size than allowable, as I was sizing them down, saved ones too large, and may have tried uploading those. In any case, they went in this morning. Now the avatar, this might not be as easy....hmmm.
Stuck an Olympus Digital Camera in 'for sale' if anyone is interested.
