We are located in the suburbs of Cleveland,Ohio. Not the most typical place for a small farm but we do have 3 green houses, chickens, a rooster, lots of rabbits, goats, tons of cats, and are interested in getting some more animals, a pretty big garden in back that grows just about everything, swimming pool, jacuzzi, and a few other things. You get your own room and bed and bathroom, sauna...the room isn't attatched to the main house and could use a little work on it, mainly just a good clean since no one has used it for sometime now. We are not looking for a big party animal. We like the peace of our house and aren't interested in alcoholics or drug addicts. It is an open door job so if you don't like it then you can always leave freely. When I say "we," I mean my father and myself, and the rest of my family. We have a small commune here at our house. My aunt lives next door, my brother lives behind her, my cousins house is next to that and the barn is next to that. Depending on how well you work there would be spending money as well. Well I'd hate to say a ist bc it varies. Everyone just pitches in for what needs to be done. But obviously taking care of the animals, garden, making wine in the fall, harvesting, canning tomatoes, fixing things up around the barn and house, dinnners, whatever there maybe.
what about kids? not that i dont like them, its just that my sisters has 4 and all that i do is babysit them and would like something diferent, and how much spending money, do you thank that if i saved it up that i could by a vw van at the end of the summer? I live in Washington and need to get away i am vary peaceful, hard working , and not big party animal but i do know how, what about your famly what are they like? mabe you wont to know alittle about me i have a larg famly i am the only brother of 8 sisters and have to do alot of protecting,(i thank thats how you spell it) and randum stuff ,i do love to kick back after a long day and have a beer or something and relax so im 6'2" 185 blue eyes brown hair and prity stong i have worked with animals befor i had 2 goats 11chickens 4cats 3dogs 2 ducks , i love the woods and everytheng in it and i have never been to ohio befor so let me know if you wont to give me a try peace
Well there are no kids that live on the property but there are two down the street and my aunt watches one everday. The three of them are usualy at our house but I wouldn't ecpect, nor trust anyone coming into the house to watch the kids alone. But you definitely have to like them since they will be over. But if youhave kids and are interested in coming here, that is ok too. Quite a few people have written back and while it was up to me I'd take everyone... I don't know if the family wold go for that! The money depends on how much you do. You could also get anoptehr job while staying here or take classes or whatever you'd like. But between working here and getting nother job you should defnitely be able to. The reason I say getting anoher job is bc you may not want to do this work all the time, and it woudlnt' be like 8 hour days every day. Maybe a few times during harvesting and wine making yes,... The family... well some are old fashion and some are very modern. there is my sister 19, me 20 brother 23 other sister 25 her husband 26, but they live about 5min min away but are always over, cousiin 28 her fiance whos over most the time 27 cousin 32 adn then my aunt and uncle and father. they are all nice but not all as open to many things like me. The parents are the ones that mainly manage the land bc the children were not interested but now that I moved back I am really interested in it and want to expand on what there is. I know I can go on and say more but i wont for now.
it sonds cool but i just looked at a map and it would take two months to hich over to ohio, man that is far i wish that i had the balls to go hiching all over but i wont do that until i get some more stuff to do it ,i wont do what i did last time that was not cool, and no i dont have kids, good luck and when i get my van i hope to came see you peace
Hey Maria...I was wondering if you still needed anyone to come help out at your farm. I live only a few hours away from you down by Kings Island (amusement park). I am looking to leave this particular area and start anew somewhere else or just travel and pick up odd jobs for a while. Yes there is still an opportunity but I can really only have one person right now and since so many people got back I'm going to look into everyone. How soon do you need to know by? How long would you want to stay?
I was wanting to leave this area by the end of April/ early May. I am not sure on how long I would want to stay. Long enough at least to learn a thing or two about living ona farm.I would also definately get a part time job to help me along the way. Maybe a couple of months or so.
I'm afraid my dad might of found someone. It's a man who has been having money problems and has a family to support so I think he's going to let him work here. But the guy isn't living at our house so I'm not sure if the family would still be cool with getting someone else to live in the extra space behind the house. To be honest, it doesn't look good bc if we're already giving money to him I'm not sure how much more we can dish out. I'll keep you posted if anything changes. We have a house in Florida I'm thinking about turning into a commune as well. It's in St. Pete, so we'll see. Take care, and keep on keepin on!
um, if u guys still need help, or would possibley be willing to let me and my bf stay there, that'll be cool. we live near canton (ohio) i havn't talked to him bout it yet. but we're seriously haveing money problems.i'll talk to him bout it if your deals still open, cause i don't know how'd he feel living with strangers.
