    I remember the first reading and nothing else;
The blank pages of unlived lives and the justifacation.
Years of violence have proved to bear no consolation
and your heart is still bleeding.

    Somehow you kept your humanity
and yet the finer points have slipped away
You see the wrongs done unto your enemy
you have known the torment of
    not belonging.
Yet you can still turn away.

Born of hate and anger you were to be a shelter
    to those we knew
had suffered, wept and not survived.
    by the Wailing Wall
we could have wept with you
    Lost as you were.

I love you like a relative I can not forget
and may not like, but trust
    for the right reasons.
I know that through the years, you have made
the desert bloom and grieved for all friends
and innocents who have died within you.
But you know not the compassion for the foe
    that you've known
    for yourself.

You are strong enough to go on
    but are you brave enough
    to forgive.

Very powerful. I have some of the same feelings since I've been a member of Peace Now for 20 years!
