Fear factor makes me sick. i hate it. why do they pointlessly eat animals and kill bugs? it's so disrespectful towards animals. anyone else have a problem with it?
yeah really, such a terrible show, but a real accurate reflection of our values, how some chump deserves loads of cash for doing some bizzarre and pointless and arguably cruel act. like when they had the hundreds the fancy domesticated PET rats together crawling on them like they were gonna eat them or something.
Fear factor is just like a religous institution. They promise entrance into paradise (or some big sum of money) for obedience and willpower (not that either of those are in the right place at this point). And it's captured millions of people that watch it more than they pray or go to church. That's the funny part. Fear factor > church. Also like a religious institution, it's radically immoral from most standpoints.
Fear Factor is horrible. The other thing I noticed were all the "beautiful" people on the show. Evil, evil Joe...grrr...dislike rising...grrr...
thats a good point, lots of people dont notice things like that and they start accepting all sorts of crap without even realizing it. try actually paying attention to commercials next time you watch TV, youll never look at advertising the same way again.
I myself am far from a vegetarian, but I do find Fear Factor to be terribly idiotic. The show teaches people, kids who watch it that you can get easy money by acting like a complete idiot and harming animals. That show is the basis of the moral values of many Americans and that is just sad.
Shows like this do have an interesting thing to say about our society. It showcases the inherent disgust and revulsion that many people have about facing the reality of what they're eating. Thus, eating obvious animal intestines on Fear Factor is horrifying, but eating seasoned and disguised intestines as sausage or hot dogs is seen as appetizing and normal. No one would ever have such visceral reactions to watching people eat carrot tops or mushroom stems. People should really stop and think about what their disgust over animal parts is saying about what they should be choosing to eat.
exaxtly. Just how it horrifies Americans that people over in China eat dogs and cats and treat them horribly (horrifies me too) but then they happily eat other animals who endured the same treatment. I just don't understand........
^ ryupower. Consider yourself lucky. It's basically a game show for the new millennium. Contestants are awarded fun cash prizes for killing things and eating carcasses. I totally agree with your post, but only 10% of the population will understand what you're saying. You can't expect people to think if they're not ready to think. My gripe with Fear Factor is that it glorifies brutality and idiocy. And this sort of crap does seep into the minds of young kids (as well as idiotic adults). How many of you guys saw "Rocky" and thought it would be cool to drink a pitcher of raw eggs? (guilty) Same thing is going on here, except instead of raw eggs, it's pig organs and rare insects. Don't get me started! Oh, too late...

I hate that show. What really gets me is when they get all grossed out by lets say eating a bull's testicles but thier fine with eating a cow's rear end when thier at home.
