Browsing through erowid the other day, i found the best article. IT was about how Marijuana smoke in some ways is actually good for your lungs, and can remove smog and other shit out of your lungs. http://www.erowid.org/plants/cannabis/cannabis_health2.shtml read this for more. Does anyone know this to be completely true? -Syd
ivebeen trying to explain this for ages but ive not found a plain clear source like this yeh this explains largely why pot smokers dont seem to get cancer... and why those stupid anti drug sites get away with saying cannabis contains heaps more carcinogens give me a break the tar is the stuff that we get to cough out, even! lol and they made the good point of aying that test were dont marijuana leaves. which no one smokes.
well i guess the lung system is probably built in a way that it can protect from bad substances reasonably well. but radiation is something diffenet alltogether.
well if any of you have never had bio class you would know that your lungs work best when they arnt filled with anything but air, so i realy dont care what anyone says smoking anything is bad, weed may be less bad which i agree with i dont think smoking weed alone give you cancer as much as smoking cig does but weed smoke it not good for your lungs
anything that inhibits your breathing is not good. and duck, i don't think it gives it to you, but you may be more succeptible.
man, if you are a hardcore smoker, you can feel your shitty lung function when you do physical exercise
i dont even see how they ever got away with saying marijuana smoke is worse than cigs when cigs contain thousands of chemicals and weed is natural. But i dont know much about what's in weed, except or THC; it just seems common sense that a natural plant would be healtheir than a processed cigarette.
Yes Cannabis smoke is harmful to your lungs, but this seems to show that your not likely to get Lung cancer if you smoke it. And if you are a cigarette smoker, smoking marijuana with it can increase your chance of survival. Plus, it also points out that while cigarette smoke shrinks your airways, marijuana smoke dilates your airways. This is good news to people like me who suffer from asthma. It's just such a shame that almost everyone is told to believe that marijuana smoke is worse for you than cigarette smoke!
wow thats great information, and yet, cigs are legal, and marijuana is not...what a crazy society we live in.
Anything you find on erowid is almost ALWAYS factual, so about 99% of whatever you read there can be taken truthfully.
of course your lugns are gonna feel harder to do exertion... i had soccer game today for the first time in 6 months and my lungs were fucked.,.. but thats the tar. its not a cancer growing inside of me. if i stop smoking, my lungs will clear up. and since marijuana expands your airways, it acts to relieve bronchitis, and asthma, though of course irritating asthma with smoke particles and perhaps causing ome of teh brinchitis, but its like.. it tries to balance its own wrongdoing. i cant see how ANY person who believes in an intelligent creator would not interpret cannabis as being the gift of the god, the one plant that can sustain the world, and the people.
My thoughts: Yes smoking marijuana is much healthier than tobbacco. However, if you really think about what the process of smoking is, you may want to reconsider it. I personally prefer to cook with marijuana than to smoke it, but this is not an easy process and parents are certainly an issue with most. This has been already said, but smoking anything is going to have its negative effects. You are inhaling partially combusted chemicals, particles, carcinogens, etc. Also, smoking anything can lead to brain cell damage, however this may not be very significant and similar to holding your breath for 15 seconds. I don't know the whole truth about that. I'm sure many of you have used a spoof before. Anyone ever noticed how if you put the dryer sheets close to the mouthpiece then you get a bunch of nasty shit collecting on the sheets. So just keep in mind that just because something doesn't give you lung cancer doesn't mean it's harmless. This is just a general post not meant to counterpoint anyone's posts.
i totally forgot about that shit. i read about it somewhere about a cig. you blow it into a white paper towel and it causes a yellow tar spot...and thats the shit that didnt get absorbed into you lungs so imagine what did....having said that i really need to quit smokin.
hmm well on that topic, what ARE the other health risks associated with lungs that arent cancer? bronchitis.. some people can have asthma brought on... make you more prone to pnunomia? besides the obvious coughign and short of breathness, what are the ailments you can get from smoking that arent cancer?
You don't have to go out and quit smoking today Jointman, but I would recommend you quit cigarettes because those things have way too much control over too many people in this country. About smoking. I don't know too much about the health effects, besides doing a simple google search and citing something; that's not what I want to do. I plan on becoming a doctor and learning the details behind all of this is going to really fascinate me. Even wikipedia talks about the wide difference between cigarette smoke and cannabis smoke ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Health_issues_and_the_effects_of_cannabis ). There must be some truth to it. However don't be blind about it and realize that since the process is so naturally unhealthy that it will ultimately have negative effects on your respiratory and cardiovascular system. However THC is believed to slow the growth of certain cancers (at least in lab mice) so maybe everything will be alright.
well regular smokers can t excercise well mainly due to the fact of low levels of haemoglobin in their blood. haemoglobin are the red blood cells that transfer the oxygen in your lungs to the muscles an organs. the haemoglobin usually react witht he oxygen to produce oxyhaemoglobin which is a reversable reaction which is reversed wen reacted to the area which needs oxygen however wen u smoke, the carbon monoxide in the smokes reacts with the haemoglobin to produce carboxyhaemoglobinwhich is ireversable so that haemoglobin can no longer be used decreasing the persons efficiency in respiration. however, most pot smokers only smoke at weekends (well i do anyhow). In between the sessions the bodies carboxyhaemoglobin that were produced during the sessions would of died of and been replaced by healthy hameoglobin....therefore a stoner can maintain a healthier body then a ciggerette smoker lol thought id add sum of my information that im sure sum1 will retort and contradict
Another thing that I forgot. There have been times where I have stopped smoking after smoking daily for 1-2 weeks and I get this reoccuring viral infecting in my chest. Very painful. I don't know if this is cause and effect or if the THC helped to prevent it while I was still smoking on a daily basis. Just something to think about.
