Discovery Channel is doing a poll for the 100 greatest Americans and from the look of the nominations we don't have much going for us in this country. some of the people who were nominated are Rush Limbaugh, Dr. Phil McGraw and Madonna. People who were not nominated are John Adams, Booker T. Washington and Ulysses Grant. Talk about a messed up list. I wonder why they didn't have one of the Teletubies and the kid in my neighborhood who can blow snot bubbles as nominations as well. Here is the linkhttp://dsc.discovery.com/convergence/greatestamericans/top100/top100.html Who do you think should be on the list and who shouldn't be.
Too lazy to come up with 100, but here's my top ten list: 1. Albert Einstein (In addition to being one of the most influential physicists in the history of civilization, he was a great political activist and teacher.) 2. Henry Ford (More responsible than anyone else for lifting America out of poverty by instituting progressive labor policies while also embracing a free market political philosophy. Oh, and he popularized the automobile too.) 3. Martin Luther King Jr. (Changed the way an entire nation viewed other races...one of the most difficult achievements imaginable.) 4. Thomas Jefferson (President, secretary of state, inventor, philosopher, writer. A genius in almost every field he dabbled in. Sadly, his great political ideas have fallen out of favor.) 5. Alexander Hamilton (Established the financial backbone of America which is still in place today.) 6. Philo Farnsworth (Little-known American who invented the television at age 15.) 7. Mark Twain (I had to include at least one writer on this list, so I picked the best.) 8. George Washington (Won America its independence from the Britons, and established the political framework for the executive branch of government.) 9. Jonas Salk (Inventor of the polio vaccine.) 10. Dwight Eisenhower (Without him, it's entirely possible the Nazis would have won WWII. Also had a mediocre presidency.)
Fucking Madonna? Miss I'm-italian-from-Michigan-but-I-think-I'm-from-somewhere-else-every-10-years?? The bitch doesnt even live in the USA, she lives in England and has a brand-spanking new accent to go with it. Rush Limbaugh?? A racist drug-addict? I weep for this nation.

I love Ellen Degeneres, but come on! She doesn't belong on that list anymore than I do. At least Ann Coulter didn't make the list. So G-d still loves me.
