shorter hair

    my hairs probably 5-6 inches was wondering if I should start my dreads now or let my hair grow out a bit more...any suggestions would be great

    It just depends on how you are gonna start em. I think they should be long enough to backcomb now. But just make em really skinny cause they will only get fatter as time goes on! You should really just let em grow and knot on their own. Just whatever you do, DONT USE WAX!

    I say wait a few months let em grom another inch or so. :) i sometimes wish id waited till my hair was much longer before i dreaded them up.

    thanks for the advice...im probably gonna backcomb them but im not gonna use any wax...why do you wish you waited from your hair to grow out more Fleassy?..just wondering...

    i did mine when they were that length :)

    Hi WharfRat

    I say go for it too. I had hair as short as 2.5 inches in some places and mine have been in for two weeks now.

    Some of the shorter ones fell out and needed to be re-done but I was not too worried about it. Here is a pic of my hair on the first day, sorry it's a little blurry and small!

    I'd suggest waiting maybe another month or two before dreading up because you lose length when you dread, also it's often easier to dread up longer hair. Happy dreading journey!

    Basically longer hair will dread easyer. Also people who i know whove stared with longer hair have supper phatty nice dreads. Also like has been mentioned you loose a lot of length.
