Hey there! I am interviewing people for my american history and adv.enlgish projects. I figured the best place to ask questions is here in the land of hippies! My project is due tomorrow (yes, i kinda slacked off a tad bit, but i had to make sure it was okay with my teachers to "interview" through the internet rather in person) So, please reply back to these! Thank you so much! 1) Were you involved in any of the movements that hippies in the 60's were involved in? If so which one(s)? 2) Do you feel that the hippies had a good or bad impact on american society today? and Why? 3) What was your reason for joining in the hippie group/family? 4)What have you learned from it? 5) If you could go back and do it all over again, would you? Why or why not? 6) If there is anything that you wold like to add, (comments) please feel free. For i am having some what of a hard time on my project(i'm persauding ppl that i believe hippies were the most free- spirited people and that they actually cared and tried to make a difference in society for the good) Thanks a whole bunch. 1) Pro-environment & Anti-racism; then later Peace & Pro-ERA 2) I think the various Hippie movement causes have had a very good impact on American and world society. There have been few clear victories, but we've been mostly fighting a defensive battles. Consider what the military industrial complex / war hawks could have done. Or how much worse the environment would be. Consider that by our actions, we've brought problems to the attention of "main stream" society. In my opinion, there are many things (causes) that are better off than they would have been. Also in my opinion, the world still needs hippies because there's still work to be done. 3) I didn't set out to "join" the hippie group/family/movement. I followed my heart & mind, my conscience & beliefs. Then I discovered I was a hippie. I think that's true for a lot of "old (or original) hippies". 4)I'm not sure what you mean by "it". If you mean the hippie movement, I've learned that there are a lot of good people that feel as I do, and that more are coming along all the time. 5) Since I can't go back, I don't think about what I'd change. In fact, that's at the core of my personal belief system. You only pass this way once - do your best, make it count. 6) I think you're close to right - hippies are the most free- spirited people and that they actually care and try to make a difference in society for the good. Present tense, not past tense. Peace, poor_old_dad
Thanks for replying and answering some of my questions! You have a very strong view point on your belief and i have a lot of respect for you for following your heart and heading towards what you believed in. i also agree with you that we need more hippies in the world today.(and openly)....but i still need like 4 more people to reply. It'd be a lot of help! Again, thanks poor_old_dad Take Care ~*~Peace~*~ -Kiri-
There is a shitload of these school projects the enquire involvement from these forums. Hell, I think that's one next step towards evolution in the school system. Though I do believe most of these posts to be annoying, at the same time, they are quite reassuring that some can still incorporate real people into something instead of siting sources from some book. I can't help ya here LostHopes, sorry, wasn't there at the time.
i know there are a lot of posts like these, but that's not going to stop me from asking these questions. if you find them annoying, then don't read them. I figured this would be the best place to ask. excuse me for being curious, and needing the help.
You are very welcome .... Yes I do... Thank you ... Yea ..... Again, you are very welcome, hope it helped, I'm always willing to try to help... Peace, poor_old_dad
Okay... I was gonna just stfu and ignore this thread but maybe its just the mood I'm in...I thought your response to jackbequick88 rather curt and I find myself in need to point out the fact that there are sticky posts on the top of this forums to address your needs for your homework project. I can only assume you were too busy to bother to read them or you, like so many people are too self absorbed(not saying you are).
No i'm not too self absorbed.... i was looking up information when i first typed this forum. i had a lot of catching up to do on my persuasive essay, and YES i was too busy to try to read stuff on here for forums. why can't i even ask people questions to themselves to know for my own information as well as interviewing for my persuasive essay to get their opinion and what they specifically were involved in. i didnt know that was wrong. to those who find my posts rude or hurtful i do apologize for the way you are taking it, but just look at the way i see it when you guys reply to mine in the same way. i am just trying to get a decent grade as well as boost my knowledge on their own experiences.
Alls I said was I found them annoying. And really, that means jack shit. And no one took your first post to be rude or hurtful. Also, GDHMOMCHILD was just saying she didn't like the way you replied to me and that there was a specific category under a sticky for this. Nothing big.
1)I think so, maybe, mostly I was into finding enlghtenment, haveing fun, getting through college, and working to pay my way. I attended a few anti-war protests in the center of campus, but didn't tary as I had classes to attend and flunking out meant Viet Nam. Did march againest Three Mile Island a few times. 2) Tremendous impact on all areas. Focused attentioin on Agnew and Nixon, the Vietnam War, Civil Rights, Gays, Women's rights, Alternative religions and all religions, the Environment, free speach, the internet has been claimed to be an invention of hippie types, music, etc.... 3) Default. Keeping my eyes and ears open and searching for truth led me down that path. 4)Truth and the fact that no one has a lock on it. You see we are all one. No major problem can be solved until we learn this. 5) Absolutely. It is a path of integrity. 6) Like everything aspects of the commanly concieved "hippie" lifestyle must be transended. You can not be free if you insist that being a hippie is the only way to be free. P.S. If I can figure out how and get the time I'll incorporate this thread into the FAQ thread.
Thanks Meagain! For responding to my questions as well as being helpful. Even though my essay was due like last Monday, it would still be nice to hear what people have to say in response to my persuasive essay.
