I have the VH1 story tellers.. there's the guy from Days of the new (Travis Meeks).. singing 'the end'.. he 's pretty brilliant.. comparing to the other singers ( the guy from Creed, STP..)! I once read an interview with the doors guitarist where he said that Travis meeks was the 'star' of that show or something.. he also said that he had his own band with his son.. and that they invited Travis meeks during some of their shows.. Any one saw doors VH1 S.T.?!
the one they had a few years ago? I thought it was terrible. Even if morrison was alive i still dont think their music would be good at all. I think the first three albums arent bad, but im not a big fan of them like i used to be. I vocalist from the cult is now with them touring, in case you didnt know. and of course densmores gone as well.
They replaced him with STEWART COPELAND OF 'THE POLICE'!!!!!! He plays nothing like Densmore!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Why did Krieger and Manzerek recruit him?
I spent my 19th birthday at a Doors and Dead concert at the Fillmore West in early July of 1968. I can remember little of the actual concert because I Ingested about 250 mg. of Orange Sunshine [a present] several hours before the concert.
I dunno, I kinda regrete enrytime I ever ate acid at a Dead Concert, after Jerry died at least.....I always came home and mostly remembered tripping and dancing and having a good time, but could not recite the set list to save my life......However, at the time I took for granted that the shows were plentiful and I needent worry if I kinda forgot one ....I mean at the time he/she saw them, Jim was alive, Jerry was alive, Pigpen was alive....prolly just another show really....only in hindsite does it seem like such a huge once in a lifetime(maybe) event.
Jim Morrison is a hot Son of A Bitch and I wish I was alive to experience Him...He was true, troubled and tantalizin'...As far as Travis Meeks on vh-1 storytellers goes...I did not see that performance but his voice is amzing and he is pretty cute and a real deep guy...Ian Asberry formerly of "THE Cult" is now the new singer of THE Doors- He sounds alot like The LIZARD King but will still never replace him.- He has also been a folower of Jim's and took alot of inspiration from him... his voice kinda takes you there like Jim's def. did...But that hopefully won't be too much of a disappointment to true Doors fans and followers.
What is he supposed to play the same exact way as John Densmore? Frankly, Stewart Copeland is a much better drummer. Maybe that's why they recruited him?
Scott Stapp sucks. He sounds nothing like Morrison. He sound more like Eddie Vedder with cotton balls stuck in his mouth. The guy from The Cult sounds more Morrison than anybody, but nobody can truly replace the charisma and voice of the Lizard King.
sorry, but that is untrue. Scotty Stapp is as charismatic as Morrison. all it takes is a bottle of jack daniels and a microphone. Stapp indeed has it.
Ehh, I can't find Stapp that charismatic, and Creed's sound nauseates me at any rate. To me at any rate Stapp lacks that whole dark, primal aura that Morrison had. Of course, those are some big shoes to try and fill.
In my opinion, Scott Stapp is a joke- his own band seemed to even tire of him- He has always seen a poser, wannabe success to me- The phrase "trying to hard" makes me think of Scott Stapp- Plus, I do not find him that attractive and his voice is aggrivating- Ugh!
hmm sounds like you are referring to Morrison. If Scotty Stapp died right after Human Clay, people would be worshipping him just as much as say Morrison or Hendrix.
u have a right to your opinion but I totally disagree- Morrison was always himself and people loved him, hated and envied him for that...He was a very enigmatic soul-one that no one could even compare others too- much like what we compare some celebrities to each other..,Morrison was soulful,in depth, troubled and wise for his years.... Many, are inspired by his spirit- and what's more is even though I am sure he appreciated that- he did not give a rat's ass- To him.., he was just JIM- he even said that getting of an airplane when reporter's met his band in the terminal... Scott Stapp is not that way...He seeks attention and blessings...not the same vibe or prescence as Jim.., nothing even close. anyone can disagree but that does not change the man being who he really was-and is to his family of fans and kindred souls.
no one could ever replace Jim Morrison.... especially that guy from Creed.... in fact thinking of that makes me sad. i want to cry now. im going through a Doors faze (i may never get out of) and its late and im emotional. Bad mix right now. anyway Jim was king always will be. I will see that sexy badass in hell. (okay im kidding i dont even believe in hell so dont hurt me) ahhhhh... so sad. if i was the doors i wouldnt try to replace Jim. he wasnt cookie-cutter singer there wont ever be another like him. what people often overlook is his talent... he didnt just drink and piss people off and make sexual gestures all the time. he wrote. and he wrote well. his drinking not only destroyed him, but his credibility. i hope many people can see past jack daniels and see Jim had real talent. In my opionion , he was a hip guy and i would give up my pinky toe (trust me im in love with that toe) to go back and time and be front row to see him perform (especially at Miami Beach ) Also dont forget without the Doors there would be no Jim they wrote the beautiful music they stood behind him and pushed him forward. in some ways, they made him. in other ways, he made them. but ahhhhh this is like the third or fourth thread today that ive run my mouth about Lizard Boy on so im all Jimmed out..... ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
U know, LoverYoung_peace- U are so young compared to us older people on this site- and u make alot of sense .., more than any 13 yr old I know of..And girl.., your music tastes-Do u find that your peers know who Jim Morrison is now? - It's 2004- I will admit the teens on this site probably do (they have cool tasts) but outside of us liberated freethinking,hippies....Do they really know or understand. The teens today in 2004 barely really know who Scott Stapp is- they know of Creed possibly- but not him...That's because the world has seemed to progress at a faster rate of speed. Trends go and come much quicker, musical artists are more vast..,people seem to look for the newer, better, more popular thing more than ever so..,unless you were; raised listening to someone like Jim Morrison, stumbled across this,or made an effort after hearing to see what it was all about(this man and his music) U may never know or better yet-realize about Jim Morrison. That's why I find you so fascinating-because a 13 yr old into The Doors...to me is a dying breed...People do not exist much anymore who are like you...That is a good thing because in my opinion.., u are unique and are part of the next generation carrying that torch! Good 4 U!
