i was thinking, could plastic surgery be considered a body modification? i am personly against this, if my goddess wanted me to look one way or another she would have made me that way.

but jest a thought after seeing all thoues tv shows and things in the media about plastic surgery. i think that the madia is sending a bad message to everyone on how thay should or should not look. what do yall think?

please do not think that if you are for plastic surgery that your thoughts and in put are not wecomed.

i dont count it as a mod because most mods have an artisic and some time spiritual meaning, plastic surgery doesnt its vein and selfish. im against it unless you where burned very bad or something like that, its weird that society says that tattoo and pericing are wronge and weird but cutting open a womens brest and inserting an implanet is fine

Well, it is really all done for vanity sake and by your logic if your goddess had wanted ink or metal in your body she would have put it there.
Plastic surgery is just gross though.

Yeah I consider it a form of body modification but I think it's not quite in the same category as tats and holes.

_I think plastic surgery although is a modification of the body doesn't really fit into the same category as tattoos & piercings -just like lace_and_feet pointed out.

My feelings regarding it is just like my feeling on tattoos & piercings: Not for everyone. I've seen the possitive effects on plastic surgery on people I know personally & I've also seen people go thru plastic surgery & it not really solve their self-esteem issues.

We do live in a society that puts a lot of emphasis on appearance. Perhaps you are lucky enough to accept & embrace the way you look but some people are not that fortunate.

And the artistic/spitirual side of piercings & tattos vs. plastic surgery it's very relative. Perhaps to this people their transformation is also spiritual & to this other group their body modifications -tattoos &/or piercings- are just vanity.

I think anyone who has 'self-esteem issues' that can be solved by looking a bit different needs a rather different kind of medical care... This is surely a mental issue, not a physical one? I say it's not self-esteem, but sheer vanity.

_Yes, but I think you missed my point. What I was trying to get across is that someone might go thru plastic surgery for other reasons other than vanity, perhaps someone was deformed in an accident or was born with a birth deffect. Just as there might be people that get tattoos & piercings out of sheer vanity.

As long as what you are doing is what you feel is right for you -while not hurting anyone else- more power to you.

i think people who have been deformed by a fire, accident, or born with a defect have the right to get plastic surgery..

as for people just wanting their wrinkles gone or face tight they need to get a fucking life...

lol yeah i kinda agree with that, i think natural is better all the way, unless there is a perfectly good excuse to for you to get plastic surgery, like mentioned above

    'have the right'

    _I think anyone that:

    1. Wants to
    2. Has the $
    3. Finds/found a surgeon willing to work on them has the right.

But back to the topic. It is modification & it's done on the body so: body modification it is.

I didnt think you were attacking me or my post, i wasnt upset...
you just seemed really focused on me saying, have the right (which was pretty dumb of me to say) thats all you could have said instead of making a numbered chart...

so...like i had twins when i was 20...they were a good 6lbs each. my tiny litle belly became stretched out of perportion and still 7 yrs later i can't bare to look at it and don't even want my husband to see it or touch it. Should i get abdominoplasty to make my life better or should i just learn to live with my belly like this for the rest of my life? I mean, it's not just stretchmarks, my belly hangs. would it be vanity for me? It's not liek i would be adding something to my body, like boobs...but i'd be taking away excess skin and getting my muscles sewn back together that are forever ripped apart. i could fit a pop can between them.

i'm sure there's mamas out there who share my pain.

_ [IMG]. I was mortified. People sometimes take me out of context & since English is not my first language I usually find myself explaining myself over & over.

Note: I also understand your point -just thought I should clear/state that-.

hey seahorse. i think you're beautiful just the way you are. obviously i'm not in the same situation so can't speak from knowledge, but i'd probably feel reall self concious had i had a belly from giving birth etc.hmmm, this is a toughy....in geenral i am against plastic surgery coz it goes against my beliefs of the body being a temple and stuff...pray about it lots? i will pray for you.
