When it comes to the queens of folk, who do you like more? They're both so very good... but imo, Joan's voice is better and I have a hard time getting into Joni's later jazz experimentations. Joan for me.
I love them both so much, but when it boils down to it, I would have to go with Joan Baez. Joni Mitchell was extraordinary, but Joan was beyond that.... she was phenomenal!
Between the two, I'd go w/euthanasia as it has to be less painful. Different strokes for different Folks... I do like Carly/Linda...
Joni slept with Mr. Taylor AND Mr. Young. :H Actually I think she slept with the whole CSNY crew. Carly Simon is my friend's aunt. I've got a few of her albums... But Joni is it for me. She's just so...multifaceted and talented and prettiful. It's what every woman should strive to be. Plus, her photography is fuckin' amazing and she can hold any high or low note for a good minute or two.
definitely Joni, never could get into Joan Baez, though she's ok too, just not my cuppa tea. Both have good voices though, I'll grant that. I esp like Ladies of the Canyon and Hissing of Summer Lawns, coz those I listened to a lot. I'm sure some of her other albums are equally good. I tried to listen to Blue because people said it was good, but I didn't like it so much. I don't care who anyone slept with edit: Circle Game is one of my favorite songs of all time.
i've never heard of Joan Baez, i guess i'll have to check her out. i do love Joni. tho i'm not going to vote because i've only heard of one of the girls. I like Carly Simon.
I like them both so much, but I'm gonna have to say Joni coz I've been listening to her since I was a kid so I have a special spot for her in my heart.
Joans voice. but i like joni's songs more, especially jazz stuff hard to tell really. I prefer melanie to either of the two.
I hate to go off topic, but I think Melanie deserves some more attention. She has a crappy voice but "Someday I'll be a farmer, working the land I wish I was a farmer, to work with my hands 'Cause it's been too long a ride, too high the fare Well, I built an-climbed a mountain But it wasn't there And I been lookin' all around looked everywhere Well, I built and climbed a mountain But it wasn't there It isn't there, dum ta dum It isn't here, it isn't there, nor anywhere " I like her sentiments.
