And after that I understood - HIppies are all designers!!! They are very creative, they have really genious ideas!! So, if it's so:) , let's make our Own BRAND!!! Just imagine. We can make a lot of people hippy, they will be interested about us!!! Let's create! Let's make clothes, make music, make paintings and make LIFESTYLE!!!
    ARE YOU WITH ME?

    Sincerly yours,
    Anita.

I don't want to make anyone hippy, if they are in their hearts they'll find there own way with guidance. I don't want to create a lifestyle based on material and paint, I also don't want to label that lifestyle and tell others they should be living it. My creativity stems from my heart not the fact I'm a 'hippy'.

I am a hippy, I didn't deny it, it's in my blood. But me being a hippy has absolutely nothing to do with the clothes I wear or make and if it did I wouldn't be a true hippy.

so you honestly believe it's the clothes that make you a hippy? If so you aren't a hippy.

It's in your heart, and your eyes and the way you view things and the way you care and respect people and your surroundings. I could be wearing a bin liner and still be a hippy.

I completely agree with sweet and natural mystic... It's not the clothes that make you who you are. If one believes it is that way, then they are really phony.

And Arlia, good for you for making bin liners look cool!!!! :)

Well, I tend to steer clear of these sorts of discussions, I'd like to lend my two cents. I'd like to point out that when the hippies came about, they were considered a counterculture. Now, while it was made up of many aspects, clothing was one of those aspects.

Hippies were often judged on appearence alone and became an obvious change from those of the more predominant culture. So, clothing does partially make the hippie. Now, I agree that anyone who believes being a hippie is about how you dress, is a phony, poseur or whatever label you'd like to identify them with. But, anyone who denies style as part of the hippie package is in extreme denial.

oh totally, I won't lie and say I don't like dressing the way I do and in my own style but I also think you have to wear the clothes and you make them what they are, they don't make you what you are.

In terms of the hippy culture then god yes, alot of it was about an individual sense of style but that was by no way the thing that created the hippy movement, it was about change and awareness and a need for something better for everyone. Like I said, they made the clothes apart of it but in no way a vital part of it.

I am totally getting myself a binliner.

Sorry, if I said something wrong. I didn't mean that just clothes say who you are! No! NO! NO! It's not so! I mean that clothes also playing a role in hippies life! In last century, 60s, hippy made big, great influence on fashion, politics and minds of the people.! I like it very much. I just want to make our century like last for a little piece. Sorry again.:(

To be honest just because the last century had an impact on how we are today, doesn't mean we should try and make it like that again. Its called evolutionizing (excuse my bad spelling), it nature taking its course but being hippy is in your heart and how you view the world. Not making the world into your view. My grandmother was one of the original hippies but as she got older she didn't look it but she was at heart. I don't dress like a hippy but I think I am one at heart because I love nature and try to help it as much as I can and everything else. It is not in nature to change it and be like how it was in history. If so we would never advance aand have our own movement. Like hillary clinton becoming the first woman to become senator, but at one point soon in this century there might be an even that causes for amercan latin or african americans to become president, you never know but just let nature take its course. What happened in the past is what makes us who and what we are to day. Clothes does not make you hippy, its in your heart. If you don't see that then your not really a hippy. What you said it interresting and a could be but to try and make ppl hippies its not what we should do, all we can do is just be ourselves save the planet and hope one day someone will see what we do and live by our example and also be themselves. I hope you see our point of view.
